Might be between them amounts, either way i would rather use that money to go towards a left back if am honest and get someone free in. Unless the board aka dermot desmond gets his hand in his pocket and gives us a few million quid to take our title back!!

    £500k - £1m is nothing for a manager.

There would still be money for players.

Same here. Too much * being thrown around about Moyes etc. Not going to happen.

He has a Celtic connection, did a very good job at Hibs and West Brom, is a realistic target, has his teams playing good football and has Peter Grant as his number 2. All this together makes him my 1st choice

    Who's currently on a free?

    Mark McGhee - at Motherwell
    Tony Mowbray - at WBA
    Roy Keane - at Ipswich
    Mick McCarthy - at Wolves
    Owen Coyle - at Burnley
    Davie Moyes - at Everton

Perhaps John Collins, he just left Chareloi, but he is un-proven.

So if you can name a good manager who would be realistic on a free then that makes sense, maybe we could go for Jimmy Calderwood!!! :87:

Fair enough, but I'm looking down the line of Celtic type managers, he would face the same abuse that WGS got.

He hasn't really done much since he left West Ham, and going by the way Zola turned them around after he left (without much change) I would say that Curbishly ain't really a valid choice for us.

Other than Charlton he hasn't really done anything.

Fair enough but at west ham players wer sold without his permission, so it was said anyway and thats why he resigned. Just heard hes still in a legal thing with west ham over leaving!

I think curbs would be a popular choice tbh. I am one who would like mowbary to be our next boss, just that with our board, who are tight arsed *, would that money we payed for mowbary be taken off our transfer funds?

From that point of view I agree with you mate, but in terms of the board being tight, I've got a different (perhaps wrong) slant on it. I honestly believe that they had lost full confidence in Strachan's ability to spend money wisely.

He has spent quite a bit in transfers, fair enough he hasn't spent more that 4.4mil on a single fee, but has had quite a few round the 1mil - 2mil, with JVOH probably being the worst at about 3mil, he also spent 3mil on Loovens, who looks to be a good player, but then didn't play him!!

Celtic are not in the position to be able to afford a squad player at that type of price. We really are a club who need to be signing players who are going to be coming straight into the first team, week in, week out.

Thats a valid point, we cant afford to spend 3million on squad players or players for the future.

I can see where your coming from as when martin o'neil spent big it was on first team players like hartson sutton etc, he didnt spend too much on squad players. Strachan bought donati, who now plays for the reserves, and loovens for 3 million each and didnt play them.

I'm all for Mowbray, I would like to see him at the 'tic. I liked his style of football at Hibs and WBA, and I think he could do good things with the resources at Celtic.

BBC says 1M is out of our price range. How the * do they work that one out? We've paid over 1M for * players in the past, so if the board think Mowbray's the right manager, they'll surely pay it.

Unless BBC know our board are tight as *.

This is not hard to guess. I hope they don't take these clowns in. Rather get WGS back, and give him money for transfers.

WBA would be gutted, Hibs were gutted. Says a lot i think.

And Petrov1888 i think you're right, we wont have a problem paying £1m if he's the right man - i hope so anyway. We save that much in wages if we get rid of the players we have talked about for the last few days.

Celtic is a step up from WBA. No disrespect to Albion, but they cant deny that. The standard of the league is not great, the standard of the team isn't great. But i maintain it's the best squad in the country and i think a good manager can come in and do very well with us.

    Sorry who is the clown?

Strachan is gone. Its time to move forward. A chunk of his squad will be moved on, and new guys brought in. Thats the way its going to be.

Mowbray will be a breath of fresh air. You wait and see.
