    You've obviously not seen much of him as you've referred to him as a destroyer which he isn't, so I don't get why you're so desperate to move McGregor for him.

    I want a defensive midfielder in the squad but he doesn't fit the profile at all.

    Even Ange didn't seem keen to throw him in really.

    He himself described taking the ball off of opponents as his greatest strength. As for moving McGregor:

    a) he needs rest at times. Only Maeda might not need rest in our entire squad.:84:
    b) teams (obviously not Huns) have started to clue onto us and him when he's at the bottom of the triangle. Shuffling his position around may help us reinvent our play.

    Pretty sure he is in the European squad? So I'm guessing he was carrying a knock, or lacking sharpness. I hope he's in Rodgers' plans, really think there's a player in there. If he comes good, he offers something we don't already have.

    He has a criminally low amount of game time in central midfield to show us what he’s about.

    The bizarre thing is, he’s a Rodgers type player. He’s big, athletic, composed and possession based. A lot of attributes we’ve been crying out for in beside Cal in certain situations.

    I'm not sure Rodgers knows his best midfielders outside of today's starting three.

    If that makes sense.

    He knows McGregor, Hatate and O'Reilly are the starting 3.
    We all know he has a soft spot for Turnbull and thankfully it seems he understands now that Hatate is back, it's best maybe not to play Turnbull and O'Reilly at the same time.

    But the other two midfielders for rotation, I don't think he knows yet who to trust.

    Recent games, Holm, Bernardo and now iwata have been the first to come off the bench. Suggesting he is giving them all a small chance to see who is likely to step up.

    That said, and this is a slight tangent, I think a starting three of McGregor, Hatate and O'Reilly is really good.
    A second (rotational) three of Iwata, someone and Turnbull would be sensible.

    But as said, Iwata has criminally low time in this position that we can't really know for sure yet.
    But either way, that "someone" needed to be a big time signing that would push the first 3 as well as the backup 3.

    Him and McGregor played well together today when he came on.

    Would like to see more of him, particularly with Hatate struggling.

    It’s exactly what we got from him last season coming on from the bench and solidifying the midfield. Showed his experience and for me is exactly what we’re missing in Europe.

    Showed when he came on in couple of derby games last year that he has what it takes to steady the ship. Puzzling he hasn't had more gametime but maybe now he will push on as he has definitely got something.
