[Link] Tom Rogic

In need of a sense of perspective here...

For the sake of sounding arrogant, our one club is bigger and more significant than the whole of Australian football and its players to the power ten! I don't want to see us lose out on a good player but the honour of even being linked with Celtic is his (and Australia's)...The 'Australian football community' should be pleased his name even appears in the same sentence as Celtic. To us he's just another 'prospect'.

No offence mate, but I couldnt care less what the Ozzie football community think. Celtic will offer money if they feel the deal is right and not until then.

 

To be fair, he is kind of right.

 

I can see why some folk are getting upset at the whole trial situation, but on the other hand if he was willing to come to Celtic for free on a trial rather than getting instant big bucks at Reading, that shows he is seriously interested in the Hoops

 

He is, no doubt about it but I don't think there was any need to come across like that on this one. Maybe it's just me

 

Not sure how significant my opinion will be as an Australian football fan... but I don't think Australian's are upset. The main story has been more and more clubs coming out and showing interest in Rogic and that will lead to a bidding contest. But as has been said, Celtic will make their move if/when the time is right.

Rogic left the mariners in a vital point in their season, so obviously he wants to be there.

 

No offence was meant to the guy, but I stand by every word. That's it.

 

Have a feeling we'll lose out on Rogic and Agudelo. Too much * about. I know we can't be gung-ho but we should be tieing these deals up quickly. If the scouting's been done properly and he's been training with us since Thursday there should be no need for a trial in Glasgow. Get him signed!

 

Are the board trying to say we can't afford to take a punt at £400,000? Just do the deal and let's move on to the next target, FFS. I can understand Agudelo being risky, but Rogic is a safe bet.

We need a good midfielder like this and they normally cost a fortune. Hopefully it can still happen.

 

None of us actually know what's happening. We could be in contract talks with him right now.

 

This. Celtic must surely be in the box seat to sign him seeing as he's with the team on trial. Hopefully he gets to play in this trial match and he gets signed up after that.

 

I don't get why people want to rush in to signing guys Lennon is not 100% on. Lord knows we've been sold a few reasonably priced duds over the years and we just cannot afford to do that. One averagely priced dud these days means no more chances to get it right unless we make money to recover the loss on them. I personally like the stance adopted by the club and neil and think it's the perfect way a club like our should be operating.

Too many people to desperate for new faces, regardless of their quality.

You make a good point but it's the fact that Lennon has said Rogic looks like he is worth the money and then wants to waste another week even though there are teams from across Europe interested in him.

The £400,000 fee that was mentioned is a very very small amount for a player with as much potential as this guy seems to have.

 

Yeah what he is saying in this instance is a quite contradictory to be fair, but in general terms i think my point stands lol.

Also we're only hearing of his potential, lennon is the one seeing it and judging it for himself. If he wants another week with him there almost certainly will be a good reason, I don't think lennon would mess the guy around for the sake of it.

 

Questions for you Aussie's: Do you think this lad is good enough to go straight into the first team or will he be 'one for the future'

 

Can't fathom why folk are panicking, or being irritated that the club aren't "just doing the deal" as it's "only £400k". We can't afford to be wasteful with our cash and if the club feel they're not 100% on the lad yet (which clearly they aren't) then I'd rather we didn't take the risk.

Let's be totally honest, if the guy was the hot property that some are making out (for the record, from what i've seen he looks slow and workmanlike) then he wouldn't have to go on trials.

 

I think it's hard to tell, I guess it depends on what level he'd be playing at. I don't think he's quite Champions League level yet, but he'd play in an SPL first team.

 

Wish people would stop panicking cause we didn't sign a player within a day of seeing him. Just cause we've not got him straight away doesn't mean we have lost him, or the board are penny pinching
