Very funny, I do not think Celtic would do that, they are far to professional.
My point is that you underestimate the strength of the Aleague.

Sad to see Tom go, but hope that he does well for your club.

Really looking forward to seeing this lad. Fingers crossed personal terms are sorted ASAP - and work permit if needed...

    Hail Hail

Don't think there will be any issue there...he's from the good part of the commonwealth.

Plus he's been capped for Australia.

I just have to ask does anyone know why its so hard for him to get a Visa? So many other players have just walked into Europe at his age. Why is it hard for him?

The A-league is better than division 2 here. You can't seriously be using the results in a pre-season friendly on the other side of the world as evidence that CCM would beat Celtic in a competitive fixture :smiley-laughing002:

We use these games to get players fit, let Aussie Celtic fans watch their team and try out a variety of ridiculous formations and strategy's.

And for us, Serbian supporters. I hope we will "steal" Rogić and he will play for Serbia if he is as good as people say.:bbpd:

I was at that Central Coast v Celtic game. With all due respect, there is no way mariners would beat Celtic in a competitive fixture.

Most EU countries deem pro players to be in a skilled profession so its easy to get work visas. for some reason though, the UK have all these stupid requirements for players. It's almost like they dont want high paid players paying high tax rates. Eejits

I think work permits are different for Scotland and England. In England they have to prove players are better than ones already in England so it means a lot of mostly smaller Clubs just cant get permits. But in Scotland its easy for us as why would Celtic, the biggest and best team in the land want to be signing a player who isnt better than other players here.

I think we have to take this into perspective. The A-league has a salary cap of $2.48 million (Aus) that is roughly equal to 1.5 mil pounds. I'm not in the know but Samara's transfer fee was around 2.5 mil pounds. This one player cost more then a whole A-league squad....

Aleague squads are also only aloud 23 players at maximum in an entire squad you guys have 88! so before you start bagging just take that into consideration. :celt_2::icon_mrgreen:

This should answer your question :50:

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/rangers/193378-explained-uk-work-permit-rules-for-footballers/

Basically his application will be automatically rejected and then it must go to an appeal panel where it will be decided if he'll be a benefit to the league which as a 20 year old who has broken into the full Australian national team it shouldn't be a problem. It's not actually hard for him, it's just the stupid way the rules work.

I'm not bragging at all :smiley-laughing002: Of course that must be taken into account! But you've basically reinforced my original point that Celtic are a level above any A-league side. I was pointing out the futility of using results of friendlies as some sort of barometer.

A friendly should never be used as a barometer:icon_mrgreen:. I just hope it brings you back down to earth a bit that you lost to a lowly a-league team that cost less then one of your players...:56::56::56::56:

BUT!!! it was preseason after all :celt_2:

We've lost to better sides in the SPL with smaller budgets than CCM.

But yeh, if it makes you happy I lost a lot of sleep over that one. A dark day in the clubs history no doubt. :50:

    Forever in your nightmares..... ;)

It really doesn't seem fair in the SPL. having a smaller budget then CCM is saying something.

I don't think people on here should be slating the A-League, especially if you don't watch Australian football (which is decent). Happens far too often with us and 'the greatest league in the world' due to the difference between their budgets and ours, and ignorance. Same case here.

    Welcome to Celtic, Tom. :50:

I think the teams in the SPL would be right up there in the A-League. The only thing about the A-League is that their fitness levels are off the charts, they are proper professionals... it's just their skill and level of football I'm unsure about. I know nothing about Rogic apart from what has been said on here and those youtube videos, so I'll wait to see him play to judge him. As I've said before though, things are looking very good for the lad... made a great choice in joining us over QPR.
