Gloveman Tom Glover is being chased by FC Copenhagen, Celtic, Rangers and Newcastle United after a breakout debut season at Middlesbrough.
Well positioned to be Mat Ryan’s heir apparent with the Socceroos, Glover, 26, has made 20 appearances in all competitions since moving from Melbourne City to the north east of England , following in the footsteps of fellow Aussie keepers Mark Schwarzer and Brad Jones at the Championship club.
It was only a fractured finger that opened the door six weeks back for Senegalese international Seny Dieng to reclaim the top spot after Glover had emerged as coach Michael Carrick's first choice
And even then Glover - willing to train and play through the pain - has remained as an active understudy, though surgery is on the cards in the near future to fix the problem
Amember of Australia’s World Cup squad, but yet to make his senior debut, Glover was one of Boro’s heroes in the charge to the League Cup semi finals where they finally met their nemesis in Chelsea.
He was also man of the match as Boro bowed out of the FA Cup in a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa - home of fellow Socceroos understudy keeper Joe Gauci - to further cement his place on the radar of his suitors.
Having picked up the former Tottenham Hotspur junior on a free transfer, Boro - still an outside shout for the playoffs - might be tempted to cash in come the end of the season on a player contracted until 2026.
Danish high fliers Copenhagen are resigned to losing their number one gloveman Kamii Grabara in the off season and see Glover as the perfect replacement, whilst with Joe Hart on his farewell lap at Celtic Park, Glover is high on the Brendan Rodgers’ radar.
Rangers are also in the hunt for competition for Jack Butland.
It’s the same case up the road at Newcastle where coach Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his goalkeeping depth

Sounds a good fit.

I think out of all the GK links, he'd be the most underwhelming, but I am happy there's so many.
-
The fact he's been referred to as "the gloveman" has automatically put me off...

Would glove this to happen.

Must be after a number 1 and 2 with some of the links we've got recently.

Also could just be first choice is retiring, we need a keeper and papers can invent links that seem reasonable because everyone is aware we’ll be looking for a replacement. -

If we are targeting an Australian keeper, gimme Mathew Ryan.
- he's the #1 choice for the NT. Glover doesn't have a single cap yet.
- he is out of contract this summer
- he fits BR's philosophy being a sweeper keeper

Sounds magic.

If we’re looking at Championship keepers, I’d rather go with Angus Gunn. As someone else said, Ryan is also available on a free in the summer. Will be a ton of better options out there than Boro’s second-choice GK…

Moves from Aus to Middlesbrough, has a break out season of *checks note* 20 appearances.
To which he has managed to catch the eye of *checks notes again* a danish club, the richest club in the world and the two biggest Scottish clubs.
Seems a bit of an odd collection of clubs to be interested in him.
Chalk this up to agent/paper talk.
