What upsets? Man Utd have lost to Pool and Arsenal
Chelsea have lost to Pool, Utd and Arsenal
    Pool have lost to Spurs

For the top 3 teams I don't think they'd think those results as huge upsets.

4 teams have won la liga in the past 18 years, the same as the EPL. Now however there are generally 4 teams who could win the EPL, last season man utd, chelsea and arsenal were within 4 points of eachother. Thats noit the case in the EPL.

Theres been an EPL team in the final of the CL for the past 4-5 years and in the semis longer, better than spanish teams. Its the same two la liga teams with mabe a mix up with the other two, in the epl its just the same take a look at the records if you want. Chelsea are a recent club in the cl, everton, liverpool were not making the cl all the time until 7 or so years ago also.

"Because we dont have Italian media shovelling "we're the best" down our throats every 5 minutes"

Who shoves it down your face? You pulled that out of nowhere clearly made up.

    * this is crazy, are you being serious? The english national team are SLATED every single game in almost every paper, they are a laughing stock by 90% of this whole country. On every epl teams board in every england match thread there is the biggest anti england national team posts you could imagine. Nobody likes the national team, every knows and admits they are *. Im seriously gobsmacked that you or anyone can think their is a biased here towards them.

Watch a Spanish League match and then watch an English League match and you will see what league has the real quality and provides top entertainment. Just compare the two English games televised games yesterday against the two Spanish televised games. If you want to talk English football, comparing the EPL to La Lega is like comparing Division 1 (or what ever its called these days) against the EPL. They are a world apart in terms of quality of player and entertainment value.

As for making it up that the English pundits clam to have the best league in the world. Do you own a TV? You might want to watch something like SkySportsNews for a few, 10 minutes maybe and you will see the attitude.

Do two matches make a league? Oh so they dont actually say its the best league they just have an attitude which suggests to a bitter SPL fan that thats what they might think. Oh noes!! And these epl guys who are "shoving it down your throat" because you are CHOOSING to WATCH the programme. You're a smart one you

Gary Caldwell got is spot on when he said "Sky hype the English Premiership up to be the best league in the world but I'm not so sure. Below the top 4 or 5 teams, the standard isn't that high."

I think La Liga is of a higher quality.

The guy has a point, up to a point.

The EPL is the best league in the world, the Champions League is the only measuring stick you can use really and that says the teams in the final stages of the competition are English more than any other league.

The enjoyment factor is subjective and yes La Liga is more exciting for me personally and a lot of other people.

I'd say the only argument England have for claiming they have the best league in the world is the fact that stupid ammounts of money is funneled into it, including to even the smallest of their teams.

Though it is the same multi-millions of cash which has made the league an absolute bore to sit through 90 minutes of some of the biggest games.

An example of boring football in the EPL - Stoke City, the team who play for throw ins... how exciting.

I don't see why the mlood guy keeps bringing up the SPL, everyone knows it's a poor league with only one good team within it's ranks :icon_mrgreen:

Noone is arguing about the SPL, it's the EPL and La Liga in question. Though to be totally honest La Liga is only better this year due to the football in Spain. Barcelona are leading that table by a ridiculous gap considering the quality they play against.

Though i was watching Spanish football the other day and i had to switch it off 'cos all of the diving antics going on was * me off so much.

One guy got a shoulder challenge on him, rolled about 10 feet out of the park and stayed down for a good 3 minutes.

I can't remember what game it was but i remembe Villarreal were playing, it was the other team with the diving antics though.

To round it all up, for being claimed as the best league in the world the EPL is probably host of some of the most boring football matches on offer. The money has spoiled the game.

Also as far as mlood saying there is no biased towards the English national team in the media...have you ever watched Match of the Day with Gary Linekar, Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Alan Hanson? It's ridiculous, i get fueled with rage at how biased they are, not the mention the commentators who cover the games. "England England England England England."

I don't hate English people, but most of your pundits and football medias arrogance annoys me to the point of meltdown, and to deny this would be like denying... can't think of something to put in here.

    Speel over :icon_mrgreen:

EPL the best in the world?

Don't make me * laugh, and that's coming from an Englishman.

I watched the second half of Stoke v Liverpool on Saturday, neither side had a clue, I've seen more exciting games from the local non-league sides.

And don't get me started on the other dross i've sat through this season...

EPL - The most hyped up league in the world.

Im the New Celtic Signing dont you know?

I dont think i once said its the best league in the world.

    Wow some common sense.

The Italians are known for their defensive, tactical and cautious approaches to games and they are one of the most successful football nations. Would you say the league is * just because serie a doesnt have the flair of la liga? The problem in the EPL right now is teams are adopting a defensive approach and being more cautious. Last last their were a lot more huge scorlines and a lot of great attacking football.

Either way so long as the EPL is the most watched league in the world its far from "pish" because the main audience (which comes from abroad) would stop watching it.

So just because lots of people watch something, then it's automatically good?

Lots of people watch Coronation Street and that's *....

45,000 people watch Rangers and their even worse....

Everyone is different and has their personal preferences all im saying is if the majority of football fans like the EPL the best then theres reason for that. It can also be backed up with facts such as CL performances.

And the money in the EPL that so many of you seem to hate do you just brush aside the fact that barcelona and real madrid are two of the biggest spending teams in football history, real madrid being the biggest. The majority of the biggest transfer fees are players going to la liga, its only recently that a lot of money has been spread throughout the EPL.

Thats a fair opinion although i only mentioned the SPL once in this thread i believe and i dont have nothing agaisnt the league. But you are clearly not a fan of la liga, la liga is the only league i know where football is a non contact sport. Part of the reasons a lot of English clubs used to and still do have trouble in Europe because fouls are given that never would be in the EPL. Im sure Celtic have that same problem.
