Timothy Weah

  1. Wasted here by the fact we wouldn't play two up front, good player with a decent attitude, should do well at Lille.

  2. Good pace, movement and work rate.

Don’t think his level is much higher than Lille though.

  3. Let’s be honest if Rodgers was still here and PSG wanted £8.9m we would probably have gotten him.

  4. Not this again :fear:

  5. Would of been snapping had we paid £9m for him. Not worth that kind of money to us, Edouard has a much higher ceiling.

  6. See I think it makes edouards money look a bargain as I think he is the better striker

  7. He is only just turned 19. There is loads of potential there. I would have loved him back here at that price.

  8. No one can question this boys passion or attitude

He settled here with the fans very quick and seemed to get the club.

Personally I think lille are getting a good deal with a guaranteed decent future value.

  9. If given an option of one striker for £9million to sign from PSG youth ranks - sure we would all probably go for Edouard. But that aint to take away the fact that Lille I reckon have got a deal there.

They'll also be keeping an eye on what Dembele done here, the value he went for and what he is looking at going for next, after being at Lyon.

There is money within Weah, 20-25million in 2 or 3 seasons for them, easy.

His attitude and passion for the club, the sport, himself, brilliant.
Pace and hunger to do well.
A little rough on the edges, but a decent coaching team will develop that a lot.

Still not pleased with the wording and how it is perceived that he was let go here.
Seemed a bit "well * off now then" because he wasnt to be available for the final. Would rather have seen him just be around the squad and continue a decent relationship with him (and PSG). But again, not the first and now isn't the last time we have treated outgoing players like absolute *.

Got a lot of potential but that kinda money would've been too risky on him in my opinion..

  10. Bargain for him, much higher ceiling I then Eddie I think.

If he was afforded the same opportunities as Eddie we would have seen more and there would be no debate about him being worth buying for the same as what Eddie cost.

  11. Edouard to me was a no brainer, this guy I can see a player but to me if we are spending that much on a player it needs to be in defence.

  12. Weah is a fantastic player for his age, hunting him because of the u20 world cup/ Scottish cup fiasco was * stupid

  13. Transfer fees are getting fkn ridiculous now.

He looked good but not £9m good.

  14. Aye quite steep for him, looks like he will probably need to be a striker as he looked poor out wide for us and doesn't seem to have the dribbling ability to play there. His strengths seem to be running through on goal using his pace, touch and finishing and playing around the box but just now he doesn't look physically capable of playing as the striker, could be 2 or 3 year before he's ready to play as a striker in the French League.

  15. Compared to the established players and EPL level prices, it's not that bad.

Think it doesn't help that Scottish football is still stuck about 20 years in the past when it comes to finances.

From what we get from tv deals, to what we can afford as a league to spend on players.

Too league and most players are still going for a free transfer or under a million.

A team looking to be competing in a European competition has to accept to do that, they need a couple of players at least that cost that much.
It's not just about spending for the sake of it, but the players capable of playing that level just are that sort of price now.

  16. £9m is a great deal for him.

  17. Some people seem to be getting lured into an assumption that 'foreign is better'.

Turnbull had a better season than Weah - in fact, Turnbull scored / set-up as many as our own £9 million pound man Edouard - and STILL some folks are girning over us offering £3million for him!

I don't think I'd have been all that impressed if we'd shelled out £9 million on Weah.

  18. I liked him. Reminded me of Henrik with his running style and the covered up rings.

Think he’ll do well wherever he goes. We got him at an unfortunate time with the sleazy one leaving

  19. Henrik for £650,000 must probably be the best bit of business ever in world football
