Good luck attracting exciting prospects if you are unprepared to make concessions for their international careers.

I love the lack of understanding from some posters! A 'treble treble' means a lot more to us than him. If I was his age and had the chance of making history with a club that I respect and enjoy playing for or 15 seconds on a pitch for an Irish underage team, I wouldn't even stop t say goodbye.

I do hope that we haven't chucked away the opportunity to have an improving player back next season. His attitude, on and off the pitch, for a young lad was brilliant. He 'got it' immediately. I can't remember the last 'loan' signing I felt this warmth for, probably Bellamy.

I will go out on a limb and say that Lennon had no intention of playing him in the Scottish Cup final.

    So why the compromise then?

Genuinely really detest the way our club handles these young loan signings sometimes. It keeps chipping away at our image as a desirable club for young talents to come and develop. Obviously it's more about the club than the individual, but each time one of these loan signings like Musonda, Weah, etc. don't pan out, it must diminish how attractive we look to other young players of a similar profile. We are unique in our signing policy in that most deals which make financial sense for the club (at least from the board's perspective) are either young future stars who are only beginning to uncover their potential, or older more established professionals around 30 who have presumably already peaked. If we can't navigate a short term loan deal with someone like Weah and have it end amicably, how are we supposed to get these younger talents to commit to multi-year deals at the club?

A shame to see him go as his enthusiasm and love for this club was a tonic .
Good luck on your career buddy and hopefully we will see you back in paradise some day .

Dont think it matters. Musonda was garbage and will be lucky to cut it at any level, built like a toothpick and didnt have the pace for the wing or the hold up for the number 10.

Weah was a lot better than Musonda but he was still lacking, not ready yet physically to play up front and although we gave him a good few tries out wide he probably doesnt have the technique to play there. His ball control and touch are slack, for me he was unable to play on the right since he can't control the ball well enough close to the touchline and we never seen much of him on the left he would have been more suited there but even then Mikey Johnston has more skill on the ball and is well suited.

If a player doesn't cut it it's down to them and won't affect anything.

Celtic apparently had a compromise with the USA that he could miss their first game to play in the cup final.

The 6 month loan of an inexperienced teenager ends with a whimper. Who would've thunk it eh? Pointless.
First casualty of the summer overhaul.

Although I use the word overhaul loosely as I have zero confidence we're going into this window with a decisive plan. Jesus, we haven't even got a permanant manager.

We really need to get this summer right. I hope my natural pessimism is way off the mark.

It's disappointing, whatever the reason, he was so enthusiastic and always seemed to play with a smile on his face. It made me think he will become a decent player being so positive.

However, if he's not giving it everything in training then that must mean he's not happy here because I don't doubt for a second he loves the game, Maybe just wanting more minutes.

All the best Tim, we had some great moments.

No chance of the other 2 Americans getting called up for International duty? :fear:

Sad to see him go. The kid has a great attitude on the pitch, humble and hard-working and also seems to have a genuine affinity for the club. I don't think he's been particularly well treated by NL either in his lack of game time or the manner of his departure. Hope he goes on to have a good career, he certainly has the ability.

Would have been unwise to announce any decision before the cup final,I'm hoping they have someone lined up and announce after the treble treble.

    The compromise was impractical.

Weah made the best decision for his career. Lennon has omitted him from matchday squads on a number of occasions when he has been available for selection. Why would Weah risk his future for him?

We have that inexperienced teenager to thank for turning our season around and for preventing the title race going down to the wire.

Honestly didn’t ever see it with him. Thought he was poor and just took minutes away from Johnston.

Still a bit of a * way to treat a young player who clearly loved it here.

Yes I agree, but then why even offer that compromise if he doesn’t think he wouldn’t have played a part as you alluded to. This is being used as another stick to beat Lennon with imo.

Lennon would have wanted him as cover for Édouard. Nevertheless, Lennon's tenure to date indicates that Weah would have had no guarantee of a place in the matchday squad for the Scottish Cup final, let alone game time.

He's mishandled this situation, in my opinion, and I believe that it will have A long-term negative impact on the club's ability to attract high-profile prospects.

I have made no secret of the fact that I want him to leave at the end of the season, but I think that the criticism is warranted in this instance.
