Down to the player for me, if he goes to the USA and says he's in with the chance of winning a Cup and playing first team football and doesn't want to go then theres nothing they can do. Nobody should be turning down first team football for me to play youth football.

Bit strange that Lennon told him to leave now “in the best interests of the team”.
He’s no huge loss but timing is a bit odd.

Really liked him, would liked to have seen more. Think he's a much better player than some who got more game time over him since Lennon arrived, and expect he'll go on to have a good career.

 

Lennon has treated him shoddily. Weah played an important part in our title win; he should have left the club with our best wishes.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were incidents like this that caused Lennon to lose the dressing room at Hibernian.

Not a chance. Especially if you had played dozens of International youth games before and probably were well aware the standard is * poor compared to even SPL level first team football.

 

The ‘in the best interests of the team’ comment is weird. Hopefully people are just reading too much into it.

134 mins total in the last 8 games (720 mins), so been on the pitch for less than 1/5th of those. 2 starts in 11 games under the current coach. The chance to start every game in the U20 World Cup against other top young talent, and a manager happy to let me go? Aye, I'd be off.

 

"Played in 17 of the 22 games"... pretty skewed interpretation of the stats there. He started 4 of those games and many of the others he featured as a sub after the 70th minute. I really don't think he had any chance to start in the cup final given how he's been used the past couple months. To me, it seems like something else has gone on behind the scenes, like he has been told already that he won't be getting a new loan next season or something similar.
