I'm still tempted to give him more time. I can see positives in games, and I can see the way he is trying to get us to play. It's just the mistakes and lack of strength at set plays that are costing us, not to mention the struggle to score goals.

I would hope he got to spend a wee bit in Jan and brought in maybe three players to freshen it up.

:50: good post, pretty much what i would say!

i would agree that perhaps mogga made a rod for his own back being so publically critical but at the end of the day he pretty much has said what we more or less think! he's not bare faced lied to us like Strachan did last year

we need to get rid of Caldwell an absolute disgrace that this greedy * is in the team never mind captain! and to think there are folk who said hes a better defender than Balde :87:

He has a worse record than Barnes, and we are already behind Rangers. He needs to get the boot. If he wasn't a "Celtic man" (whatever that means), more people would have been clamouring for a change already.

    agreed

We finished last season 1 point behind Rangers. Fast forward 6 months and we are still 1 point behind (possibly 4) but with 7 millions pounds worth of extra "talent" in the squad. This tells me Tony is not the man for the job. Cut our losses before we get any worse.

Biggest mistake he has made is getting rid of Hartley.

"We have paid 2 million quids (or less, I think Lawell cut the price down) in compensation to WBA to bring him. So, he's still with us and has contract untill next summer. If we are to sack him in January, we need to fork out more money to him. Excellent logic."

i was just about to mention the very same m8...As much as im ashamed of recent events, we cant afford to sack the manager.. even if we could afford it.. and anyway.. who in there right mind outside an ex player/staff would take this job!? No chance of EPL spending structures, and no chance of decent money to get half decent players!

was going into one there but have to go watch some christmas lights being turned on lol.. yous'll get my point though..

By January we might be too far behind the Huns to catch them. Mowbray's record as Celtic Manager woud probably get him the sack at any other club in the top 6.

When he came I thought we were getting a great coach but he is getting far poorer performances out of pretty much the same group of players as Strachan had. Indeed, Nakamura aside, you could argue this squad is improved on last season.

TM just doesn't cut it and it looks obvious that the players aren't playing for him. Considering he is constantly quoted as needin got get rid of most of them it's hardly surprising.

The current Rangers team is desperate and yet we're behind them. We're a laughing stock in Europe and we're on the road to becoming a laughing stock in the SPL.

Come on Mowbray, do the decent thing and resign.

yes it will cost money in compensation if we sack him but far less than we may end up losing

Its more than just one season we have to compare a lot of the inherited players. Caldwell has gone from POTY to a wreck in a few months. McManus has from a hot and cokd player to a disaster area. Even Loovens has looked worse this season. Mowbray sets up the team differently in a way that doesnt suite our defenders. Caldwell, McManus have played in the CL, captained their country, one POTY awards, won about 5 SPL medals between them. The CD is far more shaky across all competitions than last year. Remember one hald of the CD won POTY last year and at the time most on TC agreed.

Other players have been much poorer under Mowbray including Skippy and Brown (although admittedly the later is probably more to do with injury). Another thing is we do not seem to have the fight and will to win that saw us get through everything that mattered most until the very end of the last 4 years. That was vital. I also think Mowbray may have lost the dressing room with his stupid comments about players. In addition all his singings are jury out ones at best. I do not rate his apparenly oddball tactics either. You can only get away with that sort of messing about if it works and for him it doesnt. I honestly can see nothing good about him or in his CV and IMO the club misjudged this badly.

Even inuitively I would run a mile from the sort of space cadet football philosopher persona he has. We needed a tough, pragmatic solid steady sort of manager more in the Levein mould IMO. Also, people should stop fantacising about the window. Just as in all the other windows on the last 8 years the board will only be funding modest purchases. What we need is a manager who can get maximum success with the inevitable limited standard that the market dictates and will continue to dicatate probably for the next decade or more. Wrong sort of manager IMO. We had a guy who can squeeze the max out of limited players in WGS. Rangers still have one in Smith. The Greek international team must have had such a guy when thet won the EC. We dont need a guy with an idealised football philosphy at his core that his resources will never match.

The problem is our fans were absolutely screaming out that their priorities were football the Celtic way, preferably led by a Celtic man, everything that they didnt see in WGS. Well the board were weak enough to go with that, probably as pure shortermism because of season ticket fears. A very bad decision. I say cut our losses and get in a proper old fashioned tough gaffer like Levien who knows the SPL, knows the limitations and knows how to make players run through walls for him.

for me the biggest problem mowbrays created is we still dont have a settled side every week its being tinkered with decide what 2 are best up front and go with it centre mid the same and central defence the same this is the spine of our team yet there is no consistincy with whos playing in these positions the shape of our team is also a joke its all over the place im begiining to wonder if the players have faith in him it sure dosent seem it
