I know we're not going to agree, and no I don't regularly attend the reserve games (or when they were running). One things I can say though is Lawwell and Strachan have made moves to exit the reserve league in favour of elsewhere simply because the quality in the other teams is not there.

You improve as a player by playing against higher quality individuals so I for one am glad the reserve league is over in favour of "friendlies" against other teams. No idea if there's any truth in that no tackle agreements, but I reckon you'd learn more playing against Di Santo and Jason Roberts, however competitive than the 6th, 7th choice players at Hamilton or Falkirk.

As PRD says though our youth/reserves have never looked better and long may it continue!

I see it as a real bonus everytime we blood a new young player at Celtic, yes the guy only got 30 minutes on Wednesday, so it's hard to judge him over such a period. He and big Josh looked quite comfortable, far better than biting my nails watching Caldwell and Mc Manus, remember the havoc they could cause in 30 minutes, thank * their gone.

Also, haven't seen enough of him, nor did he get enough pressure from Hearts to make a fair assessment.

He looked like Petrov from where I was sitting. It was one of things that once it's in your head, you can't get it out again.

True, there was no real attacking pressure at all from Hearts in those 30 minutes, so it's tough to judge his performance. Although I hear that Loovens will be out injured tomorrow, so maybe we'll be able to see the boy for a full 90.

Personally I like this guy. Looked on form on Saturday and almost scored from headers a couple times. Imo he has a good chance of going far with Celtic and I really hope he and Josh Thomson (who i'm not really a fan of) have a good game against Ran*ers on Sunday and would be great for Thomas to get a goal :celt_2:

I reckon the guy looks composed on and off the ball. It's a little premature to make a decent call on him but I like what I've seen. Having said that, I don't expect much of him or Thompson on Sunday. It's a little unfair to have high expectations of them at this stage.

If we do not win this weekend we should keep playing them until the end of the season as all games will be meaningless except the SC. A nice run like that will do them a power of good. They look like excellent players who now just need to build up experience. A couple of months of no-pressure SPL games would be ideal for them.

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, and agree that there will be ample opportunity for Rogne & Thompson to get a few games over the coming months, that each 1st team appearance will be of great benefit to them down the track. However a pair of teenagers at the heart of our defence for large chunks of the remainder of the season would be simply inviting disaster.

The standards of the SPL aren't that great anyway, our stand in teenage cbs are probably on a par with most of the SPL teams.

What are your thoughts on Thomas Rogne?

Everytime I have seen him he has looked very promising. He's got good pace, something which I like in a Central Defender and overall looks a very promising player for us in the future.

Looks pretty solid, hope he aint going to be another injury prone defender though. Whats going on with all the defenders getting injured? Are they all similar injuries? Could it be something to do with there training?

Looked great with the ball at his feet too, like a midfielder maybe. Shame about the injury. Thought the two youngsters done well yesterday.

I'd like to see him finish off the season if he's not seriously injured. Really like the look of him.

Both Rogne and Hooiveld came into our team when not quite 100% which might have caused their injuries.. I think they were already playing catch-up with fitness due to their seasons having finished at the time we signed them.. Frustrating because we still don't know what we've got in these players but they look promising..
