He only touched the ball about 4 or 5 times so I can't judge.
Thomson + Rogne's ages combined = younger than Grampa Weir :56:

Cant really judge him... I sit the opposite side to the defense when he came on.

Hope he turns good and I know for a fact Thomson will :)

    That's actually true isn't it? :icon_mrgreen:

To be honest, I think that's why they won't both get a game together very often - Loovens seemed to be feeling an injury earlier, and we were two goals up. But I think that lack of experience (extreme lack of experience in Thomson's case) requires an older head in the mix.

Looks the part, good for him to get a taste of it now. Could well be called on to play a part at some point this season.

From the times he had the ball he looked composed & comfortable. Much more comfortable than Thomson who always seems to need just that extra second to get the ball under control and make a pass, although I did think he had a terrific game on Wednesday. It's just a pity that the reserve league has gone. He really needs competitive games to be tested and judged.

Loovens is a bombscare. It's always 1 good thing then 2 bad with him.

The reserves are still playing games though, often higher calibre teams than we'd find in the previous reserve setups.

Missed the Hearts game so am gutted to have missed Rogne in action!

Whoever they play, it's still only friendlies. At least the reserve league had some degree of competitiveness.

I doubt there'd be much difference, especially given the higher calibre of team. In the game against Blackburn the likes of Franco Di Santo, Jason Roberts and El Hadj Diouf featured which is a million times better than Aberdeen's 6th and 7th choice forwards.

There's a huge difference between friendlies and competitive matches, mate. No matter who's playing in them.

Thomas Rogne played regularly for Stabaek (nr.3) in the norwegian league last season and is a really promising young lad. He was linked with a couple other european clubs + is a member of the U21-national team squad and has already played some matches in the Europa League (got into some trouble with Valencia and David Villa ;) )

The norwegian club I follow was heavy linked with him and were desperate to sign him. Couldn't match the Celtic wage :p

    true in a way

However it doesn't make much diff when in a competitive game your up against pure *.

I would give a 110% if i got to play in one of those games. Doesn't mean that i would be able to give any1 a hard game

I disagree when it comes to SPL reserves and English reserves. Let's face it the reserve league has hardly been "competitive" for a long time. Is it 8 in a row for us?

And I disagree with you. I also think you're doing a huge disservice to the young and fringe players who worked their arses off getting the 8IAR. If you are/were a regular reserve game attendee you must have seen how difficult those games were and how hard the players hard to work for their success.

By all accounts these friendlies are worse than testimonials. There's regularly a no tackling agreement and there's little to be learned.

Best we agree to disagree because you'll never convince me that these games are better than a regualr reserve league.

    Hail Hail :50:

Put it this way - for the first time in a LONG time, we can feel confident about the backup we have in the squad.

I hardly noticed Rogne. And for a centre half, that's pretty much the definition of a good game.
