The Glorious Glasgow Sevco only have 1 keeper, Alexander the Great :celt_2: :86:

Your right most teams do, in Italy all the top teams have about 4 experienced keepers :smiley-laughing002: in Spain the top teams usually only have 2 but they also have their B team keepers who they could call up who are usually experienced players, same in Germany. In France they usually all have 3 keepers.

England they dont really, they usually have 2 and a younger decentish one like Utd have Amos, Arsenal that Italian, Chelsea and Spurs have 3.

De Gea, Lindegaard and Johnstone are all in the first team squad and have professional experience.

So, you're classing this Johnstone as a senior keeper? :97:

Yes. He is a member of the senior squad and has played in the Football League. I never said he was any good but then a third choice keeper doesn't need to be great.

So then Robbie Thomson would have been adequate at 3rd choice.

I disagree. He's a youth player with no professional experience, whereas Johnstone has played in League 1 and for England U19's.

Still a keeper they have they can call on if they need him.

    So

Man U have De Gea, Lindegaard and Johnstone plus Amos out on loan
Chelsea have Cech, Turnbull and Hilario plus Courtois out on loan
Man City have Hart, Pantillimon and Wright
Arsenal have Szecezny, Fabianski and Mannone
Spurs have Lloris, Gomes, Friedel and Cudicini
Liverpool have Reina, Doni and Jones

AC Milan have Abbiati, Amelia and Gabriel
Juventus have Buffon, Storari and Rubinho
Inter have Handanovic, Castelazzi and Belec
Roma have Stekelenburg, Lobont and Goicochea

Bayern have Neuer, Starke and Reidmulller
PSG have Sirigu, Douchez, Le Crom and Areola
Ajax have Vermeer, Cilesen and Van der Hart
Porto have Helton, Ribiera and Kadu
Benfica have Artur, Lopes and Mika
Zenit have Malafeev, Borodin and Zhevnov
Spartak have Dikan, Rebrov and Pesyakov

In Spain they only have 2 but can use their B team Keepers who are usually experienced players for example Real's is 24 and has played for Numancia. Barca's is 23 and has played for 3 seasons in the Segunda Division for them.

Aye, but that's my point - he's no Premiership experience, but he will still do for Man U.

Thomson has played the next gen games against the likes of Barcelona etc.

I know - that's why I never mentioned most of those teams :icon_mrgreen:

I think as well Dortmund's 3rd choice keeper is a reserve who has never played competitively for the first-team.

I think Lenny was just looking for the insurance of having someone with first-team experience to call on. The chances are that he won't be needed but the top teams have a third choice for a reason. He'll be on peanuts anyway.

I'm quite happy to have the guy in......especially on loan.

I certainly wish we had another goalkeeper when Mark Brown was the back up :31::31::31:

Honestly one of the worst GK's I've seen in a Celtic jersey.

Boruc would never be willing to sit on the bench for us.

He'll be on a few grand a week. Boruc would've been on 10 times that. Personally I'm not a 3rd choice keeper fan but some managers are. I really don't see the problem with it. Bringing Boruc in as back-up to Forster when he'd be on double the wages is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard.

It's beside the point talking about English, Spanish, and Italian teams having numerous 'keepers in their squads. Our budget is drastically smaller than any of those clubs, and we cannot afford to waste money on guys that will never play a game.
