To be honest, we're not talking about Juve playing defensively, we're talking about their defenders fouling everyone inside the box and referee felt powerless to do anything about it.

It looked like he would and we kept on pointing them out to the ref and losing a bit of focus.

The entire football community will be fully aware of what went on. You have to now look at who picks the referee for the game of this magnitude. He looked like a wee boy out their, clearly out of his depth and not helped by the players.

UEFA will no doubt change the rules at some point, but if you have video camera playback it would sort this whole mess out. It's ridiculous, we sit at home and get to make judgement from action replays but the referee doesn't have someone on the sidelines who can overrule the referee and this will most certainly never happen.

3 goals is 3 goals, one * of a mighty hill to climb, but we have to hope that this chinese guy has money riding on Celtic to go through:)

There were the odd foul outside their box that weren't given and this is how a referee can help a game along to a certain scoreline, but i don't think the game was rigged we were unlucky.

I hate blaming the referee, but you cant help but feel if we got a penalty, and we deserved 3 or 4 of them, and scored the game could have ended up so differently

That was the worst display of biased refereeing I believe I have ever seen.

This is not a form of excuse for the scoreline - in fact I don't care about the scoreline any more.

When the defender has both arms around the attacking player, and is literally wrestling him about the pitch in a bearhug, and the referee is just standing feet away watching it happen, the questions are obvious. When it happens again and again, the questions become meaningless.

It's not just bad officiating, he was plainly terrified to give the decision against them.

Terrified of what, or whom, I don't know.

But if we're looking at rigged matches, that referee should be number one on the police's list of interviewees.

Most of the time I shy away from trying to blame everything on refs for every defeat like some are happy to do but tonight I will make an exception, if what was going on in their box for every set piece is within the "rules" of football then I need re educating, it was handled extremely badly by the officials who never got to grip with it, did not punish it and as a final insult seemed to book our players for pointing it out to them!

I was angry when I made this thread which was understandable given it was either made on the final whistle or maybe even just before it.

now I have had time to calm down I feel even more irate.

That was * ridiculous. I watched the incidents back and there there doesn't seem to be any plausible reason for not sending Lichsteiner off and awarding at least one if not two or three penalties.

how you can book the guy along with Hooper (which was the most ridiculous booking I have ever seen) but then overlook him doing the same thing with three other Celtic players is * beyond me.

    I'm not * happy.

I totally agree with you mate. The booking of Gary Hooper was * pathetic. The referee knew he had to book Lichsteiner so he just booked Hooper to 'even it up'. * ridiculous.

Hooper did nothing wrong, he was only trying to make space for himself.

Like you, I am raging. Truly raging. If the final score tonight had been 0-1 I would have felt robbed. The finals score being 0-3 just makes me irate. That is never a fair reflection on that match.

I can handle a superior team - ala Barcelona - handing us our *, but this...Hooper was borderline assaulted every time we had a corner. I know it's not conducive to an overall result but * it, he should stookie that * in Turin. I won't begrudge a red.

Hooper's booking was a disgrace and simply confirmed that the referee was a clueless *, fouls were taking place right in front of his eyes and he just ignored them.

    I'm not picky.
This * me off as well, the same as Broony's as well I think it was. How the * the ref could book a player for simply trying to just stand his ground is beyond belief. I could understand it if Hooper was retaliating but for just standing there, trying to hold his ground is a joke.

And what's worse is that Lichtsteiner done the exact same thing with other players but never received a card.

Even the ITV commentator's picked up on it as well and were saying things like "Ok, ref you booked him earlier for it but now what are you going to do?"

    Ridiculous.

That referee never wanted to book Lichsteiner. He never had any intention of booking him. Things got so ridiculous though that he had no choice. So the only way he could justify the decision was to book Hooper at the same time, even though Hooper had done nothing wrong.

Once Lichsteiner got the yellow card I knew he would get away with murder for the rest of the game because there was no way in * that ref was bringing the red card out. It just wiznae happening. Lichsteiner could have stuck his wanger up Hooper's * and he'd have got away with it.

    Joke.

I was raging when I saw that happen. First he shoved Broony to the floor then upon seeing him fall tipped over as if a whisky bottle had sailed ten feet over his head. No booking, no penalty, not even a caution. Disgraceful.

Total bollocks mate.Every time we have an extended run in Europe the officials tend to favor the continental teams. We bossed that game tonight.Never been at a game like that before and you could hear it from the fans.
