When you book a guy for manhandling an opposition player and then the manager takes that player off that duty and puts another on him and he does the same again, then you take THAT player off him and put ANOTHER player on him you ex[pect that player to get his jotters do you not?

This was not a Serie A game... cheating is cheating is cheating... a foul is a foul is a foul

Grabbing hold of an opponent while the ball is in play is not legal, it is a foul. In the box, a foul like that is punished by a penalty shot.

Because they cynically played to their "reputation", I should just say "well, fair play to them"? Ridiculous. Plenty of referees would have pointed to the spot on the double. That would have changed everything.

We got beat 3-0...in a similar way to how we lead 2-0 to Barca...sit back, counter attack, sloppy defending.

    Karma, I think :(

Oh and I knew that Juve would play that game, it happens in continental football a lot, it's quite disgraceful but then the referee had lost control of the game early in the first half and there was no turning back.

UEFA should've appointed a German or Scandinavian ref. That would've helped.

    A leopard doesn't change it's spots.

It just gets cleverer in how they bend the rules.

First off, this is a ridiculous answer on its face. True Catenaccio was a strategy that really hasn't been played since the early 1970s. If you think any teams in Serie A are actually playing that system, I would suggest it is you who is unfamiliar with "Italian Defending"

Secondly, and more pertinent... The precedent is meaningless... Imagine, if you will, that there was a league in China where the main defensive strategy was punching the opposing forward in the face when he had the ball and this strategy was allowed or penalized very rarely in this Chinese league... Now imagine the champions of this league were somehow involved in something like the Champions League and they were playing Celtic (or anybody, it doesn't matter) ... Let's say they played the game, punched Gary Hooper in the face several times, went unpenalized and won 3-0, would you be sitting here saying "well, it's just the way they play... we should have adjusted" or would you say "it is illegal to punch an opponent in the mouth"?

The referee looked as if he was suffering from HIV and a worse haircut than Hooper.

This explains his hatred of the world.

A Juve fan pointed out prior to the game (somewhat troubling) that during the Barca game we used Catennacio and he was bang on the money. As far as I am concerned, it just means playing aggressively defensively (narrow/strangle chances). Keeping your shape, doing what you must (including ruffing up the opposition), and it was quite astonishing to see Juve play this way tonight.

A compliment, on another occasion. It explained why Conte celebrated so much following their goals. He said before the game they would not underestimate us, and they did not. Neil's team selection and the way we came out of the stocks flying was * STUPID. You don't play that way in modern football, and we suffered subsequently.

I am going to be very intrigued to see how the United-Madrid game unfolds tomorrow. Ordinarily, I'd expect it to be attack-attack-attack, but give the management in charge of the game, and the precedence already set, I imagine it'll be a bit of a disappointing affair.

If the Juve players did that against Barca or Real they would have got a penalty. Sad but true.
