I understand acutely the backstage stuff as well as the entire business tbh. From the minute i received the Hitman's glasses at the secc in Glasgow nigh on 15 years or so ago i've been engrossed in it. I've read the books, autobiographies, the lot, i even had a column on a fan site until a couple years ago :icon_mrgreen:

Lets face it Michaels could be put in a match against a broom if he was asked to, practically did with McMahon a few years back.

As for Cena, well I use to really like his rapper gimmick and think he was average at best in the ring but now I think he's really good in the ring but don't like the whole marine gimmick, although he still oozes charisma. The other thing that was getting on my nerves with him was his superman push so was happy to see him finally get pinned cleanly at WM. Saying that I still hope he turns heel soon.

Orton can't cut a promo but he's an interesting character and I think he's been solidified as a main eventer with that win. Anyone watch last night, I just stayed up to watch for Flair's speech, still can't believe he's gone, you could see how much all the roster loved him last night.

Oh and for those who haven't seen it, here's a brief glimpse of The Rock's hall of fame speech, 10mins of 60.

The problem with John Cena is that he's shoved down our throats by the WWE, he's got charisma and it was shown when he was the rap character but now he's stuck in the one-dimensional character where he's highly restricted by the whole 'all American, against all odds' gimmick where he has to use the four moves of doom (FU, STFU, Five Knuckle Shuffle, Throwback) over and over again and isn't allowed by the company to fully utilize his moveset. The only reason he is restricted with all this is because he still draws huge amounts of money from marks and kids.

Michaels isn't too bad backstage, of course you have the whole clique thing and all but he's far from the worst, Trips isn't even that bad, sure he's the future owner of the WWE and the bosses son in law and so highly over and yet he let Randy pin him clean and hasn't held a belt in over 2 years (although, he was awful with the backstage stuff in 2002).

Now if you take someone Hogan (who Cena's basically a retread of) he was far worse with backstage politics, if you can remember his match with Michaels at Summerslam 2005, Michaels basically made a mockery of him because Hogan politicked his way into giving his character 100% creative control and basically squashed everyone during that time in the WWE.

Edit: Didn't see page 17 there, thanks for the video of The Rocks speech, I missed the HoF.
Looks like the chance of even a one night return is slim after this:

If that's true it's just sad and probably pure jealousy, The Rock's whole character was ripping people and I'm sure if you ask the fans there I bet they loved his speech to bits.

It's too bad that we prob won't ever see him again, The Rock said in his extended speech he wished he had had matches with Michaels, Cena and Mysterio which probably could headline any WM.

Oh and I agree 100% about what you said about Cena

cenas film and album were made by the wwe so he hardly done anything off his own back. and as for them trying to convince us of how good he is. did u not see that program dedicated to him before wrestlemania that sky showed like 4 times in the space of 24 hours?

maybe its because i aint watched it since the wcw were about when there was so many great entertaining guys about but from what ive seen of cena i just cant take to the guy.

i do remember the rock being boo'd when he was just starting but the rock is on a diff planet to some of these guys in terms of ability and personality, thats why he is making millions in films now.

I have absolutely no clue whatsoever as i'd have been 8 or 9. In those days it was the main stars against jobbers week in week out as well as tours and the proper matches were kept for ppv only.

At a guess it would have been Undertaker, only 5 i remember from the night are him, Virgil, Bret and the Bushwhackers! I still own the glasses though they are my prized possession.

Was second row from the front at the 'One Night Only' PPV in Macnhester, Bulldog lost the European title to Shawn Michaels that night. 1997, only 15 at the time, ahhh the memories :)

Got to see Owen Hart wrestle, that's what made it for me.

ive been watching raw now for afew weeks, and especially at the one from this weekend from london made me think.

theres no one in the roster just now that has the crowd feeding off them.

there doesnt seem to be anyone showting back there catch phrases at them like they did with the rock, new age outlaws , even jerico doesnt seem to have the crowd anymore.

the atmosphere in london looked really bad

Atmosphere in London was the loudest i've heard it in ages as well, especially the Regal - Orton fight. Did you see Regal's botched suplex? idiot!

lol yea orton looked really hurt.

    regal is so bad lol

the creative team need to get there finger out, i think they should think about merging thesmackdown and raw like it used to be like, and just have 2 shows cos the talent is really diluted between the 2 of them

the womans wrestling gets on ma wick as well. there all stunners right enough but they should only be allowed in the ring if it involves mud or jelly :p

That's HHH now... *thinks* 12 times World champion now. Only 6 more to go to reach Ric Flairs record.

Hollow record if he achieves it imo there's been a fair degree of underhandedness at times
