Not just squats, bench or dumbells as well. Vanity really. Doing 3x 7-10 reps properly at 40kg is much more beneficial than barely doing 1 at 70-80kg. No one cares how heavy you lift anyway, they care how you lift and if you look like a * or not.

Managed to squeeze in a wee 5k there before el clasico. I know its nothing to shout about, but when I started running again a couple of weeks ago, I struggled to run 5k at a steady pace and tonight and the last couple of times I've managed to get sprints in during it and still feel like I've got something left in the tank. Managed to restrict myself to one cheat meal this week (admittedly two big bags of sweeties and 1l of Lucozade) but normally at weekends it's anything goes, takeaways etc both days and sometimes Friday night. Hopefully stick it and the weights aswell and I might not need to buy a burka for holiday.

Anyone know any good running apps? Got a new ipod the other day and would quite like to be able to check times, etc.

Had a couple of guys correct me/give me advice when I've been in the gym, a few years ago. I didn't mind at all, I actually appreciated it.

The only reason some people would get annoyed is if it hurts their ego that they're doing it wrong.

Walking from Mulguy to Rowardennan on Sunday, 23 miles apparently. Not as fit as as id like to be so will be taking along a bottle of wine and a few beers and stopping at a few pubs to see me through. Walked from Maryhill to Dumgoyne last weekend which took about 4 hours and felt fine but this is maybe twice that. Took the monday off just in case. Gym bores the life out me so I only do the exercise bike and weights in the gaff through the week and treks like this.

Have * my knee, slipped on the steps when getting up on top of my tanker earlier been sore all day, went for a light cardio session (probably not the best idea I've ever had) a while ago and now can feel my knee pretty much seizing up.

Hope it sorts itself soon as I was just getting in to my cardio.

Runkeeper is decent. Women tells you at five minute intervals too. Saves you looking at a watch. Good tracker etc, I use it for running and cycling.

I thought the weightloss was about the Huns getting rid of their useless weight.

Restarted my workout and diet plan two weeks ago and I'm down 6lbs. Been doing DDP Yoga twice a day, walking at lunch break, gym and using a point system for food.

Yeah just leave folk be unless they ask for pointers , most commercial gym instructors are utter gash themselves , and PTs for that matter , too easy to get qualified and too easy for some of them to rip people off

27 miles walked yesterday, was actually further than the 23 miles I initially thought, over a quarter of the West highland way in about 11 hours, including around a 45 minute stop at Balmaha. Aside from a bit of discomfort in the feet feel pretty OK, but glad I'm off the day. My pal set up a charity donation page for a couple different charities and she raised over 2 grand so all in all fairly successful day.

Been cutting back on beer, juice (had started drinking it more when I was off beer), takeaways and added that to the gym. Down 5kg in 2 weeks already.

Do people find that when they exercise and keep fit and healthy that they are more productive in general?

Even if I only do a 20 minute workout in a day I seem to have so much more energy throughout the day and am generally just more motivated to get stuff done. I wish I could keep at my routines for more than about 6-8 weeks at a time, always end up skipping a run here or there and then it gradually gets to the stage where I do * all in a week and I've lost my fitness and motivation.

Did myself a plan yesterday for the next two months which will see me to the start of July when I usually start pre-season.
