If i remember rightly MON had his fair share of criticism towards the end of his time and many people, including myself, were glad he left when he did (although obviously not with the circumstances). The reason he was thought of so highly is because the expectations of the fans were so low for such a long time and when he came in and ripped up the domestic scene and made so much progress in Europe for us.

The way he put pride back into every one of our hearts was always goanny make him an idol of the highest order, i think that would have been the case if he was a known protestant brought up in larkhall.

Excellent post mate ....Yes Gordon has brought us alot of happiness over the years ...... i remember the huns 9 in a row and it was the lowest sporting related times of my life . we now have a chance of inflicting the same on the huns, but we seem to be going backwards and i firmly believe with the huns in the situation they are currently in ,we should be hacking up the league titles , their team hasnt got a patch on the quality of ours, which leads me to believe the problem is the manager!!!!! rant over

Sorry, i meant unbeaten, but that still is hardly * themselves is it?

If you think MON played silky football then fair enough but it was never silky. Just look at the players he had in his team, where was the flair? Lubo - on the bench half the time. Every other goal was from a corner.

Compare that to having two of either Naka, McGeady or Maloney on the park all the time. But we obviously have different ideals when it come to football.

In what way are we going backwards? 3 titles in a row. 2 last 16 CLs out of the last three? How is that going backwards?

If it teaches you to read the original post properly then it will have done the job. :nanananana:

You should take a 5 minute break, re-read the original post and see if GD was even referring to you...

I think you've chosen to be offended for some strange reason

For a man to bring in 3 in a row, first since Jock Stein, you'd expect it to be far higher!

I think that is part of the problem mate, even the two years we lost the title under MON it was very close. We are getting to the stage that the Rangers fans were towards the end of 9 in a row when the fans started to say the league wasn't enough we want Europe and you know where that ended up. I think it is good for a club to have a really bad year every so often to remind them that winning is th emost important thing.

I'm not anti MON (I sang his name like everyone else) but these anti Strachan posters make me want to post some home truths about him. I remember one winter period where Celtic went 6-8 games winning 1-0, they were awful to watch but we won the title.

In ten years time the same folk will be slating the then Celtic manager and saying but "when Strachan was manager he had Maloney, McGeady and Naka in the same team why can't our manager play football like that."

I'd be interested to see what the ratio was from corners and indirect freekicks. I'm sure it would be at least a third. We had Sutton, Hartson, Balde, Mjalby and Larsson (who could somehow jump higher than all of them) in the same team.

Was there not a stat kicking about that Villa had scored a third of their goals that way this year?

I'd fully agree with the first post.

I'm not so sure Artur has a bottomless pit of goodwill these days but I understand the sentiment 100%. One is 'one of us' the other is treated almost as an imposter.

I've said it on here before but if I was Gordon Strachan a part of me, however small, would have a staunch resentment of a section of Celtic fans. He has given has absolute all to Celtic Football Club, brought success under constraints that weren't there in the previous 5 years and yet he still gets treated with contempt.

It's disgusting and if I were one of those people that slate him for reasons masked by this 'he plays * football' nonsense and 'we're going backwards' i'd struggle to look at myself in the mirror.

The scale of your misunderstanding of my post is only matched by your ego. I wasn't referring to you directly, I mean how could I argue with such reasoning as "Uhh I just don't like the style"..

My point was people go on about O'Neills style being so wonderful and Strachans * but let me point you to exhibit a) Roll on 4 in a row.
