Hull City linked to Samuel Eto'o would be a decent signing till the summer

Apparently Witsel was on about 3-4 million Euro a year at Zenit, after tax presumably. Chicken feed for most clubs in Europe.

Seems to be scoring in Turkey but couldn't get it done at Everton or Sampdoria, pointless risk for Hull given they'll be in the Championship regardless next season.

I'd argue that attitude is pointless. Whats the point in not trying to survive?

Well, their owners aren't trying to survive and are desperate to get shot of the club. If I were a Hull fan I wouldn't want my club saddled with paying a near 40 y/o Eto'o Premier League wages in the Championship. That's the type of recklessness that has held clubs like QPR and Wolves back while they try to short out the * financial decisions of the past after going down.

I'd assume it'd be a short term contract if they done a deal for Eto'o

He's got until 2018 on his current contract, they'd have to fork out a huge amount to get him to agree to 6 months. Unless it was some sort of loan.

Personally think it would be mad to hire a guy whose strike rate when he was last in a top league was 1 in 9. Didn't exactly shine at Everton either with lesser players around him than his spell at Chelsea.

Watford have bid £8 million for a Championship striker with 14 goals this season in 25 matches. Not a bad record but come on to *.

I can't blame him tbh. It is sickening but put yourself in his shoes, he's basically increased his wages tenfold.

    He's a complete mercenary.

Juventus would still be offering him what, no doubt around £100k a week? That's * scandalous in it's own right. A millionaire after a couple of months, and playing for one of the best clubs in the world.

He'll be getting paid over £300k a week strolling about against a pretty poor standard of opposition, he'll live like an Emperor over there. It's a shame it's got to this but I don't blame him for taking the offfer.

Just think it's a compete lack of ambition. Only going to get worse though, sadly.

    * sake, you'd think they'd learn their lesson after gambling on Gundogan.

A lot of them don't actually adapt all that well, given the culture shock. Imagine it will be particularly hard for him as he'll probably be the only Belgian out there, at least the Brazilians have plenty of countrymen for company.

West Ham have had a £6 million bid for Jermain Defoe rejected, but are apparently preparing an improved offer.

Defoe has always been a decent striker but £6m for a 34 year old is scandalous imo. I'd get it if he was a world class player and winding down a bit, but they just throw whatever they want at each other down there. It makes me cringe.

Small price to pay to help Sunderland on their way to the Championship. Well, I imagine that's the line of thought at West Ham.

Sunderland would be absolute * idiots to sell Defoe for anything like £6 million.

His guaranteed goals are worth well more than that, even if only for another season and a half. Hence the West Ham bid in the first instance.

One of a very select few to score 10+ goals over 10+ seasons.

Under rated player IMO, even just for his prolific goal scoring.
