Are madrid skint this year? Normally a small 50 million wouldn't put them off anyone. Along with them apparently pulling out of Pogba because he's so expensive.
I'd personally think they'd be buying e everything with the transfer ban looming

 

Might be making this up but I'm sure their president came out earlier this year and said they would change their transfer policy and want to put their young players to use.

They aren't skint, I think it's more to do with trying to keep the squad happy that might sound a little ridiculous they had the option up until start of June to sign De Gea for €35-50m and they opted to keep Keylor Navas because of his performances last season, but Gomes he'd of been 5th choice midfielder until Kovacic was sold. If you can remember last season Paul Pogba wanted a move to Barcelona, didn't happen. He then wanted a move to Real when Zidane was made manager, won't happen, so Riaola has promised him 3 years at United and then move to Madrid but they also asked for over £100m plus James. James Rodriguez plays a part he now wants to remain and that's one of the reasons why they didn't pursue with Gomes, Valencia wanted €35m rising to €50m including, Kovacic, Nacho and either one of Asensio or Jesé. There's a possibility of Montoya & Tello moving to Valencia as part of the deal. The transfer bans for Real Madrid & Atletico are happening that's 100%. Arsenal & Liverpool both earn more from sponsors than Barcelona on a yearly basis. Gomes signing has made Rakatic not a happy man he wants a new contract and it'll be surprising if he gets it now since his arrival his agent tweeted last night 'I think it's time to leave'. I said in the La Liga thread last season Barça haven't the money to renew Messi, Suarez, Busquets, Rakatic, Mascherano, Neymar and I think the other one was Alba, contracts. Some of them have renewed since then but not all.
