Manchester United’s path to sign Paul Pogba is now clear after Real Madrid ended their interest in the midfielder for economic reasons, Sky Sports News HQ has been told.

According to sources close to the deal, United’s superior financial strength has given them a huge advantage in negotiations with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, and forced Real to admit defeat in their pursuit of the player

At this point in negotiations, the basic transfer fee for Pogba is understood to start at around £85m (€100m).

However, when taking into account add-ons and bonuses related to the success of the player and the club – as well as Raiola’s fee – the total amount United pay for Pogba’s transfer could reach over £105m (€123m).

This is not including the player’s contract, which is expected to comfortably exceed £65m, were the club to pay him a basic salary of £250,000 per week on a five-year contract.

In the case of Pelle, I can definitely understand it. He's 30 now and before Southampton he probably wasn't on megabucks (in relative terms) the rest of his career. This move will set him up for life if he's not stupid.

On the other hand. Will this affect his chances of representing his country at a World Cup? Possibly

 

Play for your country in the world cup or not only be set but be rich for life? I know what I'd choose.

 

It's not as black and white as that though. Maybe he has a family? Maybe he'll still play for Italy. Who knows

I'm confused as to where UTD are gettting all their money from. A club who uses debt to finance deals just spent £250m on Van Gaal and now they're really splashing the cash out. Talk about gambling on the CL. Sounds like they're building quite a force. Man City seeem to be awfully quiet as do PSG? Are they doing deals quietly or just waiting for the Euros to finish? Or waiting to see who wants to buy who and gazumping them
