Quite a coup for Cerro. He'll maybe be the biggest name playing in the Paraguayan Primera División but I think he is a bit past it now. He only managed six games last season for Getafe, none of which they won.

And the only game he got for Uruguay this Copa was in a defeat to Mexico where he scored an own goal. The Paraguayan league is one of the better leagues in South America, probably only behind Brazil, Argentina and Colombia right now so its probably his level now.

There's no point in even looking at what the English clubs and other top clubs in Europe are paying anymore, as it's simply gotten to a ridiculous point.

Wages, transfer fees, it's all just numbers on a screen nowadays.

Second division English clubs signing International Tournament, Champions League final playing players.

I actually think it says more about the greed of the player than it does the state of the finances.
From playing in the Champions League to 2 tier football for 40k a week. Sad really.

 

Who has done that?

 

English football doesn't make sense anymore. Watford rejected £20m+ for Deeney and even more for ighalo.

Run of the mill clubs like Crystal Palace can chuck £30m offers about like it's loose change, and Bournemouth are willing to throw £15m at a 20 year-old who has shown only brief glimpses of potential.

Too much money and half the clubs (at least) have no * idea what to do with it.
