Schweinsteiger would be a great signing, even at 31 he would probably be the best midfielder in England for 2/3 years if he can stay fit. Be interesting to see him playing in England too.

Did that Wijnaldum not reject a few teams, sayin that he wanted to go to a Champions League team?

Then he ends up at Newcastle, *:56:

    Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin
    Di Maria Mata Depay
    Rooney

That looks a lot stronger and more well balanced than what Man U have had in years if they play like that. Only problem would be each of the front 4 are unreliable, Rooney hasnt played that well for a while, Di Maria is patchy at the best of times, Mata has never really established himself and Depay is coming from a much weaker League and might take a while to step up. Could probably do with a new striker and demote Rooney to competition for the new striker and Mata maybe someone like Cavani who is good in the air as Di Maria can put in decent crosses.

If they got Muller and Schweinsteiger ooffft that would be superb. A don't see Muller wanting to leave at this point in his career though.

Was on a Man U forum, some still moaning about the signing. Some would rather have Schneiderlin over Schweinsteiger:smiley-laughing002: A know he's younger and less injury prone but if both on form then anybody in there right mind would take the German first. Past his prime yes but still quality and has a few good years left.

A think they'll sign both anyway.

Rooney played a lot in midfield last season explains why he didn't play that well although he still does a good job in there. The second half of the season when he when he was pushed upfront he was good, improved the team a lot.

Aye, Schneiderlin couldnt lace Schweinsteigers boots but is a decent solid player both of them would anchor midfield well together. I see Schneiderlin as a Gareth Barry type, I liked him at Villa and then at Man City for 2 or so seasons. Good steady player.

Rooney hasnt really performed anything quality for a few years though. Last 2/3 years he's really not done much at all, been underwhelming similar to how Ozil and Mata have been for me at Arsenal and Man Utd, capable of being very good players and standouts but just not really doing much.

Bastian Schweinsteiger to Man United is a * outrageous signing

A good signing to the English League as well, was thinking there and I cant mind the last time an English team signed a "big" player?

Suppose Di Maria but i've never really liked him and you could say Sanchez or Ozil but they werent really needed at Real or Barca, could say the same even of Yaya Toure. This will probably be the first real big signing I can actually remember where an actual great player who would probably if fit still get a game for any team.

Those moaning about the signing are just concerned about it possibly ending the interest in MS when both are needed in the opinion of many including me

A know what you mean with Rooney but still wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Ozil or Mata who have both been very average IMO at Arsenal and Man U.

Rooney at least is more involved in most of the games he plays than them, and Man U found better form when Van Persie and Falcao were both dropped and Rooney put up top.

Mata really hasn't justified that huge price tag yet in my opinion, definitely underwhelming. Great player as well hopefully this season it clicks for him. And Di Maria

I think both sill be signed and be two great signings. For me it will instantly give Man U a midfield that could cope with anyone else in the game and for cheapish too considering it will only be £40millionish for both.

They have always been interested in Strootman too, could see him signing for them next summer and probably Carrick retiring and Schweinsteiger falling back into a rotation role with Schneiderlin and Strootman playing as starters - if Strootman recovers to playing well again.

Aye, he is a steady performer Rooney always chips in with goals and assists but I honestly cant recall his last period of good form where i've thought "Rooneys been playing great recently" he was once one of the best players in Europe, top 10 in his position but he's faded away in recent years where he's now more of a Pedro of Barcelona level performer where he could play and do fine but cant really be a key player in your team if you want to win things, then you need an Aguero/Suarez/Costa/Hazard elite performer.

Mata's problem at Man U I think is he's never played in his real position, he plays too deep probably due to Rooney taking up similar positions. If they get those 2 sitting midfielders then Mata will be able to play in the hole and be freed up a lot more to just concentrate on attacking which will suit him as he's a good goalscorer who should probably be scoring 20 a season in that position.

Delph has said he is going nowhere.

Fair play to the guy, very smart choice.

Fair * to Delph knocking back Man City, one of the very few players about who stick to there word when they sign a new contract.

Great decision by Delph however moves to City are a once in a lifetime chance so he might live to regret it

Brilliant news. I'm not a Villa fan, but its great to see a player showing some loyalty to his club and not jumping at the first good opportunity.

Well done Delph. As I said, star at Villa. Great player, but won't get a look in at City.
