In qualifying they were terrible tbh. They also played in a completely different style at the WC to qualifying to stop them conceding loads of goals. In qualifying they were especially weak on the wings. They push up there leaving loads of space (which Rojo often couldn't defend against). From there the ball would come in and the centre backs couldn't defend these balls. Just looking now Hugo Campagnaro (at 34) came on for Rojo a few times.

As .Zander. was saying they changed everything at the WC, to quite bad results. This can be seen in the fact they only scored two or more goals in two games with the greatest attacking line up in the world. In the first game against BiH they played three centre backs, with Mascherano sitting very deep in front of them. This stopped them leaking goals but they struggled to create anything. At half time Gago had to come on for Campagnaro and Higuaín for Maxi Rodríguez.

After that they had a guy in with Mascherano all the time to try and create something.

The situation with Liverpool & Balotelli has moved on in the last 12 hours or so. An initial loan inquiry has led to talks with AC Milan
Now it appears a permanent deal could be on the table. Talks are ongoing but still at an early stage.

Balotelli agent, Mino Raiola, is in London now. Talks ongoing between Milan and Liverpool, but #LFC must offer money. Milan said no to loan.

Seems an excellent bit of business at £16m, considering the fees for guys like McCormack & Long

He could also be the difference between 4th and 8th as he's a complete and utter bell-end! A waste of money - flatters to deceive time and time again. A liability!

Replacing Suarez with just Balotelli is madness as he's nowhere near as good but just as likely to miss half the season through suspensions.

However if Rodgers shows real ambition and goes after Falcao PLUS Mario then that's a good window.
