Chelsea are reportedly preparing a £15 million bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Manager Jose Mourinho has outlined the need to bring a holding midfield player to Stamford Bridge this summer.

He wants to bring in Gustavo to fill this role as the returning boss doubts the ability of John Obi Mikel in that position.

This comes after German club Wolfsburg as well as Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal expressed an interest in the player, with Wolfsburg believed to be in talks over a move for the Brazilian.

Bayern’s signing of Thiago Alcântara from Barcelona is likely to limit Gustavo’s first-team opportunities this season and the club are willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old, reports The Mirror.

And the player wants regular first-team football to ensure he is part of the Brazil team for next summer’s World Cup.

Gustavo joined Bayern in 2011 and has gone on to make 64 appearances for the German Champions but his time at the club seems to be nearing an end with a summer move looking inevitable.

Gareth Bale has been left distraught by the refusal of Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, to consider a world record €100m – £86.3m – offer from Real Madrid.

 

If that is true.
Levy is a smooth operator, he will get £100million for Bale.

 

No player is worth that amount, these clubs are losing the plot.

 

Bale is worth nowhere near 86 million. He was fantastic this season, yes, but then again, he wasn't brilliant the season before. He still has consistency to gain and is not the full package just yet. It's an absolutely ridiculous amount to pay for a player like him and just shows that money in football is just getting stupider and stupider.

I hope Madrid don't put any new offers in for him, just to get it up Levy. He seems like an arrogant * who thinks he can control everyone and gets what he wants.

 

Bale better resurrect jesus for £100 million

The Bale bid is madness - he ain't world record bid material. Smells like small club syndrome from Tottenham. They can't finish 4th, can't win trophies but, but....they sold the most expensive player in the world.

Bale needs to be wc over the whole season and for at least 2-3 seasons - he hasn't done that yet.

 

Bale has been world class for a couple of seasons now. His game in the San Siro in the Champions League and at White Hart Lane was sensational and showed what he could do.

 

If I was Spurs i'd take the reported £51 million plus Di Maira and Contreao (however you spell it) over the reported 100 million euros.

 

He's worth no more than 40m, at a push.
