    Why would Chelsea offer Mata, a younger and better player than Rooney as part of the deal? Even before Chelsea denied it, it was obviously bullshit.

    In midfield, Mourinho has usually liked big, strong or tall guys in there. Think about it - Ballack, Lampard, Khedira, Alonso etc are all quite physical, and Mata isn't that sort of player. Up front he's had guys like Drogba. I still wouldn't sell Mata though, class player but I think it's the way Mourinho works that he'd prefer a player like Rooney.
