Quite an apt way to be crowned as well given all the luck the incumbent had at the US with walkovers.

    Awesome.

What a role model he is. The oldest ever first time World number 1 in history.

That is fantastic news, what an achievement to do at his age too. Just shows the willpower and determination of the guy.

So chuffed for him and his family. Well done Andy!

If you told me 15 years ago a Scottish player would be the World's No.1 tennis player I'd have laughed, we don't even play tennis.

Andy has done extremely well to get there as the World's No.1 especially in an era where he has been up against some of the greatest tennis players the world has ever known in Federer, Djokovic and Nadal.
He has a great chance to dominate now and maybe win some more Grand Slams with Federer and Nadal's lights fading and Djokovic going through a real sticky patch.

Aye, superb. He has had to bide his time and be patient, but his resolve to improve has never wavered.

Had he not had the opportunity to go and train in Spain, his development could possibly have stalled to the levels of Tim Henman(mediocre).

No doubt Brittish Tennis and other individuals will be claiming this as a big coup for them. When the reality is its down to Murray and those immediately around him that he's come so far.
