Suppose that's true, but that's the benefit of having a top class keeper. Doesn't get away from the fact they didn't have to work very hard to score any of their four goals.

I do think we played poorly last night and gifted them some opportunities, but I still think we are a better team and they will take a good few beatings in the CL. I don't know why we were so poor last night, we just looked off the pace completely. The difference in the tempo of our play between last night and the home game was staggering.

We can still judge him on our performances in the league even though it should be a given.

We should be targeting at least another cup as well.

Then of course we have the Europa League as well. Another 6 European games at least for him to experience and learn from.

As hard as it is we need to kick on from last night's disappointment. This weekend vs St Johnstone is the start. We will see how the team can bounce back.

Apologies man for being flippant there! I actually agree with most of your stuff.
You're right it's hard to kick-on especially when i actually thought we were going through! Everyone bemoaning that last minute goal at home and here's me thinking that mob are *, we are better than them and we are a decent side.

Problem is, i got to that judgement based on our league form last year.....i hope it's not deja vu mate!!

We're not far from square one anyways and we'll only get closer to It in the coming days.

So you're saying there's been little improvement in the team since this time last year? I think you're panicking on the back of one terrible performance, there have been major improvements in the way we play and I can almost guarantee come Christmas time people will be praising the way we play again. Although I do agree that Van Dijk leaving will set us back. I'm worried about our defence this season.

You keep saying 9 out of 11 players bottled it. I don't think that was the case. In fact, having had time to properly reflect on the game, prior to their goal, we weren't actually playing all that badly. We had a couple of half chances, and Forrest & Armstrong were finding a lot of space. Our full backs were also getting forward. What we didn't do, was react well to their goal. We went into a shell. We looked far more likely to score at 0-0, than when we were 1-0 down. The player's head dropped when we went a goal down in my opinion.

I would think that of the 21.5% that want him to go half would have had misgivings before the Malmo match so they are not really overreacting but using the opportunity to vent their feelings. Of those remaining some would already have been on the fence. These people are not overreacting if they are already doubters. There will always be the knee * reaction from some but this is nothing new.

I think he should be given until the end of the season to redeem himself but those who want him gone are entitled to their opinion and may turn out to be the minority who got it right.

I wouldn't want him to go unless we knew 100% a better manager was available who wanted to come to us. It depends on circumstances, if Jurgen Klopp turned around yesterday and said he wanted to manage us and would sign a contract yesterday then the results would be awaaay the other way.

Ridiculous example but you get what I mean, it's Ronny for now but I wouldn't be against a better option.

Going by the names being thrown about before Deila come here, we should be thanking our lucky stars we have him in my opinion. Owen Coyle & Roy Keane etc, perish the thought.

Ronny 's fate will be decided when we undoubtedly will play a rejuvenated rangers in the cups this season. VVD will no doubt be sold soon , I just hope that we sign some actual defenders to replace him or I fear for our season. If we lost to a first division rangers side then Deila will be sacked immediately. Here's hoping we can sort things out and restore some much needed confidence

The knee * reaction on this forum is laughable, one poor result and the sack the manager, sack the board * starts. I am hurting as well, sometimes I think people forget how good we have got it just now.

Wish folk would stop talking about a diddy team from the Championship. * me, they have beaten a couple of teams full of painters and plumbers, and all of a sudden, they are wold beaters. Some of our support are worse than theirs for believing it as well.

I know a lot of you want to see Ronny go, but it's way too early in my mind. Remember what Ronny did with his former club Strømsgodset. I know you don't like to be compared to other leagues and I don't really do that either. When Ronny started as a manager in Strømsgodset in 2008 they had just promoted from the 2nd division and were a bottom team. During his spell Ronny had to sell many of his best players several times but managed to continously produce new good players from a very small budget. Btw Martin Ødegaard (16), one of the biggest young talents in the world played under Ronny before he was sold to Real Madrid.

Here is what Ronny achieved with Strømsgodset. His first 2 years he didn't achieve a lot of success because he had to develop and build the team. They just survived being relegated. They came from the league below to Tippeligaen (top division)

    2010 - #7 league and #1 in the cup
    2011 - #8 league
2012 - #2 in the league (first ever silver medal in history for the club)
2013 - #1 in the league (first league victory in over 40 years).
(they also sat a league record of 46 consecutive home games without losing)
2014 - #4 in the league (Ronny left midway through the league)

My point bringing this up again is that Deila needs time to build a new team like he wants to. Not just a year. Then the results will come. I guess thats why Celtic hired him, so they should give him time.

Btw I would say that Rosenborg (the best team in Norway at the moment) is a better team than Malmø. Hareide like to call Malmø the best team in Scandinavia, but I think Rosenborg plays better. Last week they beat Steua Bucuresti 3-0 away.
It's possible Celtic could meet either Rosenborg or Molde in the Europa League. :86:

I don't think it's fair to call it a knee * reaction when it's in reaction to the realisation that we have improved very, very little over the course of a year (if at all), and that's starting from an extremely low base level.

Why do we have it so good just now under Deila? We won a league with no competition and will do so again, is that really the barometer for success for you? For me, given the lack of competition domestically, the current Celtic manager is judged on our performances in Europe.

The players' heads definitely dropped when they scored, but apart from Forrest and Gordon, no one played anything like a decent game right from the get go. We were utterly disjointed. Also, the way their heads dropped after the first goal and the way they seemed to mentally give up after the second is very much part of bottling it.

To me, 9 of those players didn't turn up, some of them (e.g. Johansen) had unbelievably bad performances.

There has to be a reason when it's so many.

I agree with that, which is why I still want him here. I've said previously though if WGS was interested I'd take him in a nanosecond though.

I think it's fair to say we've actually seen a lot of improvement. Do you think players like Bitton, Forrest and Griffiths are the same players they were a year ago?
Do you think our play (with the exception of Tuesday) is no better than a year ago? Do you think we are no fitter than a year ago?

I think when it comes to that sort of thing, Ronny's doing a very good job.
