On Ssn again. The more I hear Ron talk he talks in English with a Belfast accent. All the Poles I know that have lived here for a few years speak exactly the same.

Love this man to bits if you look at a transcript of his interviews you could probably replace football with any other topic and it would still make sense getting him signed to a long term contract is a must before he turns anymore heads

If Hughes gets it then it's only for knocking us out of the SC in a dubious fashion! ICT have done well in the league but we've won a double and should've been on course for a treble! * em all!!

Deserves to be recognised but I'd say Neilson should get the award.

If deila had done the treble then he would have definitely have won it but neilson will get it, he deserves it for what he's done. Not many had hearts to win the league at all, never mind winning it by such a huge margin.

I'm not sure why people wouldn't have thought Hearts would win it to be honest. Had it not been for the points deduction last season, they would have still been an SPL team, and their form from January last season was very good. All of their players had a year of playing at top flight level, and they added a few experienced guys like Bauben & Gomis. They have got the best team in the Championship by a distance. They got knocked out the Scottish Cup, League Cup, and Petrofac Challenge Cup all fairly early as well, so they only had one competition to focus on most of the season. I wouldn't say they have done anything special though.

So To address some of the above posts, you win 2 out of 3 of scotlands main trophys,in your first year, you are not automatically the choice for manager of the year.
To win promotion with a youthful team in Scotland's second tier is more of an accomplishment ,strange thinking indeed.
Or to come second in Scotland's top tier and possibly win the cup by default is a greater achievement than ronnys is comical.
    Just my thoughts

Do we really care who gets Manager of the Year, the most important thing is " Who are the SPFL Champions " , nothing else really matters.

Its the passport to the potential cash on offer with the Champions League involvement, given the crap money on offer in Scotland it becomes our only route to decent money in a season.

To win the league with a team who barely avoided liquidation with a team full of youngsters against a sevco team that proably has a budget ten times larger than hearts' is a great achievement.

Rangers were massive favourites, hindsight is a wonderful thing...

I think Neilson should get it. Deila will be the first to admit he can do much better over a Season now his feet are firmly in the door.

I'd rather we didn't clean sweep everything anyway, it gives us targets for subsequent years.

They weren't. There wasn't much in the odds at the start if I remember correctly. Rangers were slight favourites with the bookies, but the bookies haven't been able to price Rangers correctly all season. I was quite confident Hearts would win it, purely because they were an SPL team, who had been playing at SPL level. Rangers had been competing against part time players for 2 years, and still had a lot going on off the park, and had McCoist in charge. I think John Hughes would be as good a shout as anyone for it.

Not many did but I certainly did. Was posting about the squad an signings they were making, the experience they had just come out of and the fact they were up against a duff hun mob who WERE severely overrated. Neilson hs still done a really good job in his first season as manager. Showed a lot of skill and method in his early armoury and I dare say the cups were of no real importance to hearts this year, bar the one they've romped..

He's a worthy candidate, as is McInnes, Hughes but for me, after a difficult start. To just miss out on a treble but do the double, is a major achievement for a foreign unknown..

Biased but sensible, no one can grumble with Ronny getting it..

Ronny if he got the treble. However I think it will now be anyone BUT Ronny.

I'm like you regarding Hearts. Nearly all of their players had just played a full season at top level, and for the last 6 month of the season, were looking like arguably a top 6 team, after a difficult start. Which was understandable considering they basically had to play a youth team. The players they added were very good signings, and made a good mix of youth and experience. The biggest factor of all for me, is that they were all playing for the jersey, and pulling in the same direction. Compare that with Sevco, a complete shambles from top to bottom. Point taken regarding the cups as well, as the league was their main goal. I was more getting at the fact they have only really had one competition to focus on, after being turfed out all the cups early doors. They have won the league by more than I expected, but it's not come as a shock to see them win it, not whatsoever.

He's also did it with about 12 academy graduates.

Yes they were, you don't remember correctly.

First quote from Google - Paul Petrie of Scottish bookmaker McBookie.com said: “The bookmakers expected it to be a cakewalk for Rangers this season, but it looks like they have a real fight on their hands.”

Rangers were well odds on. Hearts about 9/2. Hibs 7/1

They were slightly higher than I thought. They started at 7/2 to win it. As I said though, the bookies haven't been able to price Sevco correctly all season. Anyone who thought Sevco were near enough certainties to win the league obviously vastly overestimated them. Hearts started the season with the strongest squad in my opinion, and that has shown to be the case. A major factor for me is that they hadn't been competing against brickies and plumbers etc for the past two seasons. Has it come as a shock to you that Hearts have won the league over Sevco?
