Easy to say that now, but I saw the brilliant job he did at Strømsgodset. Sometimes there's just not a good match between a good club and a good manager.

Anyway, Norwegian media saying that he still has the backing of the board, but he wants to leave at the end of the season.

We must have a different view of what constitutes a riot

No quotes in that article whatsover; it's all conjecture. Many people believed that would be the only way of keeping his job but as Lawwell likes to keep things in-house and Desmond doesn't do interviews, we will never know if that was the case.

As was said last night, there's no statement in the article that he's leaving. The article asks if his days are up because of Sunday's defeat. At the moment it's all speculation.

Like our board making signings for him and keeping the purse strings tight?

That being said the things the board cant effect like players morale and tactics have been * awful so im happy to see him go.. almost relieved. Its been a long two years of mediocrity.

I just hope with all hope that David Moyes rebuilds his destroyed reputation at our club, which also coincidentally has a destroyed reputation.

    It is the perfect fit.

    Is he the bookies fave?

He would be mad to choose Villa over us.

I think the 5 times his salary might make it not such a no brainer. Villa could be just as good a fit for his reputation

You're exaggerating, but it's a good point. He'll get a little more money at Villa, a little more money to spend and a potential route directly back to the Premier League.

It's not a straightforward choice. All we can offer is a crack at European football, a crack at a treble and a couple of big games at Rangers.

We know Moyes fancied managing one of the two clubs at some point, with his stock being lower now than it has been for ten years it might well be the right time for both parties.

Villa were allegedly paying Sherwood £2million per annum, so it's probably around about 2.5/3 times what we could offer. I'd say other than that we are a far more attractive proposition. He'd have the biggest transfer & wage budget in the country and his reputation would almost certainly increase if we won a few trophies and had a few European results.

Contrast that with Villa, a club dropping down into possibly the most competitive league in world football, one that big clubs like Notts Forest & Leeds have struggled to get out of. With a wage budget hamstrung by players on Premiership wages and long contracts. It's the clichéd poison chalice in my eyes.

We can't afford to offer good managers a decent salary? Yet can pay lawell a top wage while cutting the rest? Time we cut his wage since everything else has downsized.

I think Villa are on the downward spiral with no chance of Europe.

With a decent manager, we are in position of SOME strength, and can play in Europe, and there's the domination of the domestic scene from the fan's perspective.

If it's about the money though, as some have suggested, yeh - we have nae * chance.

Made that very point on Sunday.

Our wage budget, transfer budget, income from merchandise have all dropped while Lawwell's wedge goes in the opposite direction. Total slap in the face.

    I disagree, unfortunately.

As much as we like to think that managing Celtic is a big deal, to most in the game at that level, it simply isn't anymore. The amount of candidates who were battering down Lawwell's door last time around with their CV in hand is testament to that.

At Villa he's walking into a job where there'll be little by way of expectation initially, and that'll suit him down to the ground as Moyes is known as a slow burn when it comes to management.

He'll be on higher wages, he'll have a sizeable transfer & wage budget, and he knows that if he can gain promotion with Villa next season he's right back in the game.

He could qualify for the Champions League last sixteen with us, win league and cup doubles, the lot, and no one would give a * outside of Scotland.

Lennon did the above with us and when he declared himself available on the free market for a job down south you could literally hear the crickets chirping as he ended up doing pundit work.

Then he ended up at Bolton.

    That says it all, really.

    Has he gone yet?

What's the * hold up? * sentiment, * giving him until the end of the season.

This man has made staying in Glasgow unbearable.

Do you not read any papers or media, Sean?

The BBC, Sky Sports and other sources have all said he's here until the end of the season, at which point he'll amicably part terms with the club.

Well that's not good enough for me Daibhi.

He is an unmitigated failure, overseeing embarrassing result after embarrassing result, culminating in him managing to get us beat off those * mutants.

He needs to go and go now, take Lawwell and Desmond and that Tory * that thinks we're all racist and get them to * out of my club.
