Quite simply, what do you want to happen and what do you expect will happen?
My wishes:
- Keep Virgil for at least one more season
- Sign Scepovic
- Get rid of Ambrose, Derk, Pukki and Balde
- Sign one more centre half to compete with Denayer and Virgil
My expectations:
- Sell Virgil
- Fail to sign Scepovic and say 'we tried'
- Sign some unknown striker on loan instead

No-one with the exception of VVD will be sold, not out of wanting to keep them, just that no-one is mental enough to buy that dross.
Wakaso will be the only new face for me. -
Better prepare yourself for disappointment
-
I think its all but confirmed that we're not signing Scepovic.

wishes;
Sell the dross, buy the best.
Reality;
Sell the best, keep the dross. -

Lol at the OP.
That's exactly what will happen -
Wishes
* Keep Van Dijk until atleast the end of the season
* Sign a half decent striker (not on loan)
* Get shot of deadwood. (It would be like Football Manager if it were up to me)
* We need a left back to challenge Izzy
Expectations
* Virgil sold for a * poor amount (£5mil / £6mil)
* Sign some diddy striker, probably on loan at the last minute
* No left back signed
* A surprising sale e.g Matthews, Lustig, Kayal etc...just have a bad feeling about this... -
Expectations:
At least 3 first team players will go. I'd hazard a guess at Virgil Van Dijk, Kris Commons and Teemu Pukki. However I wouldn't be surprised if Boerrigter, Griffiths, Balde, Rogic and Zaluska all joined them.
We will end the window having not paid a penny in transfer fees. -
-
To be honest I just want a total * clear out and a few new faces in.
Derk, Pukki, Balde, Zaluska, Rogic, Ambrose, maybe even Mulgrew... just cut our losses and start the squad from scratch again with the core of the first team (Commons, VVD, Lustig, Brown, Kayal etc) still intact. -
Will probably sell VVD and i would not be surprised if Commons is sold. Sub standard loans to increase the squad with Lawwell spouting off the usual guff about "we've added quality all over the team". -
-
I would be happy to cut as much deadwood as possible and bring through some young players. Henderson, McGeouch, Fraser, Fisher, Fasan and McGregor are all good enough to play a part in the first team.

My expectations of what will happen are alot less than what I want to happen.
I expect us to sell Virgil to 'cover' the lost champions league money, even though we have already sold Forster for £10m.
I expect us to sign one other player but only around the £1-2m bracket, Scepovic deal will mysteriously break down and he will move to PSV.
What I want to happen is for us to clear out what we can of the average no hopers we currently have at the club, and try our best to get in some fresh faces who DEILA wants.
Ambrose, Zaluska, Pukki, Boeriggter, Balde, Fridjohnsson, Mcgeouch, Griffiths etc I would all sell, try and keep the core of the side intact and build around it, although even the majority of the core is looking weak right now. -
Keep VVD
Sign a big lump of wood target man with a good record
Sign a quality CB
Sign a LB as competition for Izzy
Sell Pukki Balde Fridj Twardzik
I expect
An unknown striker in on loan
A CB who never made it their current club
A project signing
A washed up has been to be signed as a view to appeasing the fans
Heskey is a free agent btw :fear:Last edited by a moderator: Aug 27, 2014 -
I don't think we were ever going to keep Virgil for a whole season even if we made the groups, January comes he would be off
-
To be honest i expect * all.
Its going to take a year or two to shift our dead wood and bring new players in.
But we just have so much working against us...money and splfs.
I think we will be just the same for the next 5 years...getting humped out of europe and winning the splfplfplsplfplfplspls. -
Genuine question here:
Apart from Virgil Van Dijk, Mikael Lustig and Scott Brown... is there anyone in this team whose departure would bring any more than a shrug of the shoulders from you ? -
