    He said he'd prefer Fraser to play with better players as well this was at the time our team contained Wanyama, Ledley, Wilson, Hooper etc

    “Fraser is such a big frame in the goal and that’s probably his biggest asset.

    “He can reach right into the corners to make fabulous saves when other keepers struggle to get up there.

    “We’re all chuffed for him as we really liked him. Unfortunately, it was just a case of the timing not working out.

    “Timing and circumstances in life is what it’s all about and things have worked out well for him at Celtic.

    “I only had him for a short period but he was always a confident guy and very assured about his ability.

    “He’s a very intelligent boy and that will stand him in good stead if he plays for England.

    “Let’s get one things straight, we didn’t want to lose Fraser. But he was adamant he wanted first-team football and we couldn’t provide that.

    “You can’t play two keepers and at the time we felt Tim had the edge.

    “Since then, there’s no doubt Fraser has progressed at Celtic. It was a great move for him as it opened the door to European football and he’s been terrific in a lot of those games.”


    Dripping with bitterness there, I bet his tongue was bleeding.

    You can't play 2 keepers but as Chelsea have shown there is no harm having 2 quality keepers in your squad look at them now with Jake Alnwick in goal ffs

    Yeah, but Forster had said that he didn't want to play second fiddle to anyone, he wanted first team football. Newcastle couldn't guarantee him that.
