    I like the quality we have in midfield, its hard to say what would be the best combination but we can guess that Ljungberg will be a starter but he might end up where paddy was playing, so that free's him up for more of a free role in the centre of the park. but that aside I would have Ki-Kayal-juarez-ledley

    paddy will never play every game he is going to go back to being an impact player ,lennon wont drop brown for whatever reason hes had many a duff season but you all say drop ledley after half a season ,and as for ki he is a great technicaly gifted player but with no heart and bite im sorry ,dont kjust slag me its sadly true.

    do we dominate midfields with ki? no!,what about hearts away when we got pumped 2-0 would we have had a different result with kayal and a few tigers in there .?

    I've said it often enough but I want a midfield 3 - either Ki, Kayal and Ledley or Brown Kayal and Ledley and that way I could never see us losing a midfield battle in this division.

    Kayal first name on the sheet for me.

    Then, for his CM partner, I would look for a player who would complement his qualities best.
    Brown is too similar (in type, not class!) & a liability in any case, so it would be Ki, Crosas, Ledley or Juarez.

    I feel Ki offers the most flair and invention, Crosas & Ledley offer silky reliability with some invention thrown in, and Juarez can offer a bit more energy, if his head's in the right place.

    So horses for courses to an extent, but my default combination would be Kayal and Ki.

    McCourt on the left, Forrest on the right, Sammy & Hoops up front.

    Or if we want to go five in midfield, then Ljungberg, Maloney or Stokes playing off the striker.

    It's a good dilemma to have but none the less a tricky one for Lenny to manage!

    We undoubtedly missed Brown when he wasn't playing and we win more games with him in the team according to the stats in the many anti-Brown threads!

    Kayal seems to have the same tenacity as Brown but Kayal looks to be a better passer of the ball and with a better strike on him.

    Ledley warming to the task and very rarely gives the ball away.

    Ki can find that killer pass and has a great delivery.

    I would be tempted to play 4-3-3 like this-


    KAYAL(BROWN)-.....KI........LEDLEY............

    FORREST(FREE)........................................MCCOURT/Ljungberg(FREE).......

    .....................HOOPER.........................

    Let Paddy and Forrest go and express themselves with s solid midfield sitting behind them with Izaguirre and RB providing width. I'm not sure if Lenny is fearful of deploying this system after Utrecht where it didn't work. I think it would work now as we're really strong in the middle of the park a playing three out the four is playing to our strengths. The players know each other better now too and we would be all over teams with this formation.

    If we sign another striker then we will probably try and accommodate him if this happens and we play 4-4-2. No place for Brown then!

    Have a feeling brown will always start under lennon though, i would prefer kayal anyday of the week. Even with this squad above we have the likes of Juarez, Brown, McGinn, Crosas, Maloney, Towell, Ljungberg etc.. too many quality players to pick from imo

    Ki has to start. We need a bit of creativity, especially against teams that only defend with 11 men. Kayal is a must starter as well.

    Not sure about the 3rd man.. Brown or Ledley. Ledley is the better footballer and Kayal already delivers the energy and passion.

    Forrest on the right wing with McCourt doing the same on the other side.

    I also would go with two striker: Hooper and Samaras.
