I was reading the tributes to Mr Equaliser on that Guardian cartoon page (link above) and man I felt quite sad...That day 30 years ago in northern Ireland was such a momentous day in my life I thought I'd share this

I genuinely thought he was already sacked, the amount of links to the managers job he’s failing at I just assumed.

Use haven’t been that bad here tbh, and it’s probably a game that you’d think aye that makes sense if you were in form. But it’s a stage where he just needs to * off.

Nah the cheap option is to just let him carry on until the contract ends.. but yeah I agree, he needs to eff off.

Might be true what they say about Lawell’s * hand being everywhere if that’s the case haha.

It’s not the best squad available RoI’s been used to for 20/30 years, but theres some youth potential there and some serious talent in Ferguson up front.

Kenny’s managing to sap that out of the team, he needs to get the bullet, for a manager to come in that can inspire the team get them knowing basics on the pitch, give them a style and freedom and build around the best of the abilities that’s there in the team.

Lenny’s probably not the worst shout for that, his worst aspects is curtailed by not having a squad for a full year and consistently and his best aspects are important in international football.

I don’t know if he still has the best of his ability in himself though, his last season here sent him on a downward spiral and a bit mental.

The Lenny of the 9 in a row season though, definitely.

I'd be happy with Lenny to be honest. We need some steel but we need to play to our strengths, if our strengths are hoofball then so be it but i do think we can mix and match a bit. Kenny's tippytappy bollocks won't work with the quality we have so we need to find our strengths. What has destroyed me the most about the Kenny reign is we haven't even been in contention in the last 3.5 years, it's been * boring and soul destroying. I have no excitement or even hope watching his teams. His first game was a playoff we lost and then for 3.5 years we've never even made a playoff, that's poor.

I think the problem is Ireland often don't look to bad, but they rarely look good. Even when losing by 1 or 2 to quality teams they don't look good or rarely look like scoring. They've scored 2 goals in 6 games against Holland, France and Greece, and 1 of those was a penalty.

Honestly mate, Ireland look like nothing just now. It’s just enough to not be the worst football right now, playing it safe, no desire or belief and no real danger.

That shouldn’t be the case with the players available now, and especially with Ferguson up top. Not many CB’s will be relishing that challenge but it’s not utilised.

I get this is semi serious but..
He quit the Saudi national team, which likely paid very well to coach France Women's team, he either wants to be in France or they are paying very well and I doubt Ireland could match his salary.

Kenny lost me after the defeat in Athens when we had lots of time to prepare including the camp in Turkey and then we showed up and played abjectly in the game. No bravery on the ball has been a theme I feel with Kenny's teams.

Thats no question partly on Kenny but in fairness not just do we have a dreadful squad from a talent standpoint the squads we have had for a few years now are our worst since the early 1970's but its also that we have a total lack of creative quality. We have no playmaker in midfield and other then Mikey Johnston we have no quality on the flanks. Up front Ferguson is very promising of course but we have nothing else and Ferguson can't do much if we can't get him any service as was the case last night in Amsterdam.

Think lennon would get a tune out of that Irish team and the dynamics of international football would probably mitigate his weaknesses
