Was full of hope after the France performance, however that was dog * against a very very average Greek side.

Edit: (not to qualify from this group it was almost impossible, but to see us beating sides like Greece to give us a platform)

Cheer up lads could be getting thumped at home by Armenia or having a 94th minute goal disallowed in the 100th minute.

At the moment the Ireland team doesn't have a goalscorer, if Ferguson comes good it will probably be okay. It's a very young team. At the moment I think most managers would struggle. Must be the only country to have 3 decent keepers but no good strikers.

I get the best of both worlds, all my grandparents were Irish but I support Ireland tonight, then Scotland tomorrow :56:

When do we stop giving Kenny plaudits for trying to play football but losing?

It is remarkable how well stocked we are in the GK department no question. But I would not put all our hopes on Ferguson turning into a super star. Beyond Ferguson we have little quality in the attacking department. It is really in midfield where we are exposed at the moment though IMHO. We have absolutely no 10 or any attacking players of real genuine quality ( maybe Johnston can offer something) at all while even in the more defensive side of things we are very thin on the ground quality wise with Cullen the only one showing any consistent level of some quality although he was like most of the team very poor against Greece.

That is being generous I though he and even more O'Dowda were absolutely shocking. Both should have been hooked at half.

Thats the killer for me. Look I understand that we have a very limited level of quality in the squad right now and that football in Ireland is in a rebuilding mode and I hope at least on its way to putting in place the proper structures and infrastructure to ensure we maximize our potential long term. I get all that. But as you rightly say while no question Greece deserved to win the game they were anything but impressive themselves. They are at best an average side yet they fully deserved the win. Then you add in the 9 day training camp in Turkey and the camp just before that in Bristol and you cannot say that Kenny did not have plenty of time to get us ready for this game. So with all that time to prepare for this game we show up and produce what can only be described as an utterly abject performance. I have and do applaud Kenny coming in and putting the emphasis on Ireland actually playing football. That was IMHO the correct thing to do. But playing football means having a belief in yourself and what your trying to do and being brave on the ball and being willing to go forwardly bravely. That is the killer for me all the time Kenny had to prepare for this one game and yet we simply do not play with any bravery or any belief at all.

Worst Irish team I've ever witnessed and as many have said we just don't have the players but the Kenny experiment has uttery failed and to be honest it's been a bit of a disaster. I'm a LOI fan so was happy to see him have a go but last night enough was enough. It was a dismal borderline pathetic performance.

    Times up Kenny..

I'm so bored, I googled the Gibraltar league, they have about 22 teams playing across two leagues! I wonder if they could get other British players on a sneaky?

This is dire, heard before the game that Gibraltar have a player who is plying his trade in the 9th tier of English football for Loughborough university * sake. :56:
