Probably but they could be doing better on the ball. I've watched the last 2 game's and there's been literally no idea's and long hit and hope ball's all game..

It looks like it needs a lot of DIY but I'm not sure if much youthfulness is coming through..

    Said no one ever,
there is a massive difference between knowing you haven't the strongest squad of players and going out to try to avoid defeat or going out to try and win .we still have a very good chance of going to the world cup

Absolutely shocking standard, from both teams.

Sunday league. Serbia have some seriously talented players as well.

We're just not good enough, plain and simple, seen this coming since the Wales game.

Our fate is still in our hands, despite last night's disappointment.

Hopefully Georgia can do us a favour and get a result against Wales in the next round of fixtures. Then all we need to do is avoid defeat in Cardiff.

Hoolihan can't get a game, doubt McGregor would.

Shame how bad it is to see this, for it to happen to MoN and Keano even worse. No cohesion whatsoever and no imagination moving forward.

Correct. We haven't one decent midfielder, MON has done brilliantly to have us in contention. Our squad is abysmal. Those who mention Iceland, the six counties etc., they all have one decent midfield player and until we find one, we will struggle in international football.

As an outsider. Never seen the game last night but watched the Georgia game on Saturday. I look around the Ireland team for someone who can drag the side up a level like Robbie Keane done over the years or like Ramsey and Bale do for Wales. I don't see it. Although against Georgia, Duffy gave them the lead , McClean missed a good chance with the free header(couple of half chances) and then seemed to sit back for the rest of the 1st half.

Ireland have done well to qualify for the recent tournaments but the lack of quality is beginning to tell. And as much as I love Martin O'Neil, I reckon it's time for new ideas and a new manager.

As someone who follows YBIG, that is as accurate a synopsis as you can get. We badly need one or two players of better standard, workman types like Walters can only pull us out of so many holes.

We went up against the group leaders and for all the talk of their good players we dominated the game and restricted them to about two chances in the entire match ,yes it was a kick in the teeth that they scored 1 Daryl Murphy had a good chance to score as they got the red card and had a blatant penalty turned down we lost by fine margins ,we had loads of possession and got loads of crosses in just happened to be atrocious crosses. With the players Ireland have its clear O'Neill is doing a brilliant job .two very achievable wins away from a playoff

Was working so missed the game but it's a massive blow. Wales game was always going to be massive and can't see us beating them.

Definitely fine margins, no escaping that, but quality is the difference between these margins and we just don't have that. The fact Daryl Murphy is an option off the bench, Celtic fans can surely remember him, shows how dire our options are. We have overachieved for years on a limited squad.
Ireland fans constantly compare themselves to the 'British' teams and the north, but all of them have good players in key positions. Our best players are the likes of Walters and McClean, limited players with heart. The one moment of quality in the game last night was their goal, we couldn't dream of scoring a goal like that. That is the small margin. We need a break, other teams can create them.

Not necessairly. Wales are currently 9th of the 2nd place teams so we could come second and even miss out on the playoffs.

I know there are a couple of decent Welsh posters on here, and two of my favourite humans to exist are Welsh, but they are horrible smug *. They are the English without accepting colonisation, whatever about us qualifying, I want us to stop them from doing so. I feel guilty for cheering them in the Euros.

Just had a look at the second place teams and actually win our last two games and we really should make it. For a start Bosnia will have to beat Belgium to get more than the 13 points we will have in the 2nd place table should we beat Wales.
