The most intriguing question of all for me is why as an Irishman has he chosen to support above EPL teams. My questions on Israel and other countries are only to clarify matters. Ever Irish Celtic fan I know would cite Celtics Irish heritage which is still strong even today as one of the main reasons for supporting them.

So perhaps if Wolf gave his reasons for supporting Celtic it might clear things up.

Ireland have been on a downward spiral for a while now while Scotland have been on the way up.

They were rank rotten yesterday as well. Easy 6 pointer for the Bravehearts!

I just assumed he was lumping Scotland in with Gibraltar as they are all Brits.

Aye I assumed he meant as in Celtic Park being a home game for Ireland. :smiley-laughing002:

Right enough I wonder will hun Scotland fans avoid the game because it's in Celtic Park? I'm sure they'd * love to get one over on us for some reason, but they might not want to attend Celtic Park :smiley-laughing002:

There is no doubt that Trappatoni undid much of the great work he did in his first few years when like Strachan taking over Scotland he took over an Ireland team that was a shambles and made us difficult to break down and beat. But after first couple of years he did not have the ability to take the next step and turn us into a decent team that could compete and beat some top sides. Instead he sadly ran the team into the ground by the time he left.
O'Neill has a lot of work to do to build us back up again. But at least he has put a smile back on players faces about playing for Ireland and he is attempting to have us keep the ball and try and actually play. We will see how things pan out but right now there probably is not a heck of a lot between Ireland and Scotland quality wise.

Truthfully am no expecting 6 easy points am kidding. A do think were in a better state currently of the two, or at least playing the better football. Not only has Strachan got us hard to beat but we really are playing some good *. Before he came in, it really was a long time since I seen a Scotland team pass like this.

A do expect us to beat Ireland at home, and very confident we can get a point minimum away. But a guess you's will feel the same way, because as you say there isn't much difference between the sides.

A thought you's weren't that great last night but as a said in an earlier post that's a tough game in Georgia. A would be delighted with a scrappy win for us over there.

The Ireland - Scotland games should be special though, hopefully two cracking games:50:

I can't wait for both games, especially in Scotland at Celtic park :bbpd:

Cutting out all the * there isn't a lot of difference between the two nations quality wise but i do feel as if we're improving more or quicker than Ireland, we look a better team/unit right now whereas Ireland from what i saw particularly yesterday, don't..

Strachan has the team all playing for each other and a nation plus media all happy and buying in to it, is your media support the same?
As sonny Said we will.both believe we can do each other but i genuinely believe we can take at least 4 points from you, since i.can remember watching Scotland we've never had genuine pace and looked like scoring, we look like scoring every game now and are a genuine threat..
We've been */embarrassed(plenty) and a mess for over a decade and slowly and consistently that's been changing, forgive us if we slightly over do it or show confidence that we can win games these days..

That's the squad for tonight. As far as I know, Noe Baba and Liam Bossin are highly rated. That's all I really know and have never seen them play.

Noe Baba is from Mayo apparently :smiley-laughing002:

Is kelleher the boy that won the Celtic contract on that Irish talent programme?

To be fair, most at decent clubs on that list..

Nah, Irish media is always sceptical and negative towards the national team really. Recently the negativity feels like it's pretty high but that's just because towards the end of Trap's reign it was pretty dismal, and the performances haven't necessarily picked up too much.

However, the best way to learn about your squad is through playing competitive matches so the time is now for O'Neill and Keane to get us back to playing football and comfortably beating teams we should be. :50:

Heard a lot of praise for Baba. Consensus is that he'll be a star.

I looked in this thread before Georgia and it was 100% negative about the line up etc so that's why i asked, i thought as much that the over riding feeling would negative..
That's why i also believe we're slightly ahead of you in progress, we're nowhere near the finished article yet but we already have a fairly settled side and set up, you boys still seem to be figuring that all out, from the outside looking in..

You do.genuinely have good players and are not to be taken lightly..

I agree at the minute Scotland's ahead of us aye. Ireland still have a lot to figure out, no doubt about that, I'd agree you have a more settled side also.

There's still a lot of time before we meet though, hopefully the players we want to see play keep getting first team football at their clubs that convince O'Neill to play them. I was confused at the line up V Georgia, I couldn't work out why creative players like Brady and Hoolihan were left out in place of players like Walters and Whelan. It just seemed as if O'Neill was pretty cautious of Georgia and wanted those 2 in for their defensive work.

We should be going at teams like that, even though it is a tricky venue. The signs were good when O'Neill took over, players like McClean, Hoolihan and Brady were getting chances in the friendlies and it seemed we'd be more focused on retaining the ball and attacking. Maybe he just wanted to get a solid performance away from home to get the campaign off to a good start.

Time will tell, I suppose. We have Seamus Coleman though so we'll probably win the * Euros :icon_mrgreen:.
