Naaaaw, A'm no talkin aboot they bogey's we were awe scared o' that lived deep doon in oor close's dark dunny's. By the way talkin aboot dunnys, see they big boys, they wurn'ay scared o' the bogey's or the dark dunnys. Awe naw naw naw, they were brave so they wis, they went doon there an oafy lot at night time, they even took lassies doon wae them an'aw. It wis pitch black doon there, whit in heavings name wid they want tae take lassies doon there furr?
Mind you some o' they lassies could be a bit oan the rough side, the ugly side, scary even, A think they awe worked in the fish market. Mibbie they bigger boys took them doon there tae scare away the bogey's, so mibbie they wurnae so brave efter awe. Och mibbie wan day we'd fun' oot.
Oanywy, A'm urrnae talkin' aboot they bogeys that hung from the conks o' big Bella McGovern's 19 weans either.
An' A'm no talkin' aboot the kinda bogey whit had an orange box turned on its end wae a piece of wid nailed across the tap tae act as a steererer then nailed tae a wee plank of wid wae hawf a roller skate nailed tae the front o' the plank and wan nailed tae the back.
They were awe right they kind of bogey's mind you, but I'm talkin aboot a REAL bogey, a "Glasgow Bogey". A bogey wae PRAM wheels screwed tae a big plank of wid. Two huge wheels screwed oan at the back and two wee'er wans at the front. Oooooo....they made some crackin' bogey's them wheels did so they did. They type o' wheels were pure dead brilliant so they wis.
A' remember when we awe wid hae a peek in the midgie bins noo and again tae see if onay auld wumen had pit their old pram wheels oot fur the midgie men tae humph away tae their midgie dump.
An' A remember how heavy they metal midgie bins were tae shuffle aboot tae get a better keek. (It's a cryin' shame so's it is, but we never ever fund oot where they midgie men's dumps were, real scunner that wis A can tell you)
But if we didnae find oany wheels in oor ane midgie bins we'd sleek away at night ower the bridge tae the posh sidean' hay a look in their midgies.
Sometimes it took months tae find oany, but we awe knew we'd get them wan day, oor day wid come o'right.
When wan o' us did clap oor eyes oan a set, man we were the man, we wis gonna be king o' the street, until some other lucky wan fund a set that is.
We'd huckle them away an' hide them in the washhoose till the next day when we'd lug oot oor special plank o' wood that we'd hidden away till we'd found oor glorious set o' wheels. We'd gether awe the screws we saved up, an' rope taesteer wi, an' awe the other bits and pieces we'd need
tae build oor spankin' new bogey.
And dae you know whit, see they big boys A wis tellin you aboot, them wans that took they lassies doon intae the dunny, och they could be a pain in the * so they could, they'd always ask us furr a hurl oan oor bogey's, and help ma boab, they'd want tae huv they lassies sittin' oan their laps while they took a hurl.
Imagine that, imagine wantin tae huv they lassies sittin oan their laps as they hurled along they bumpy pavements. But A suppose that wis mibbie somethin else we'd understoan' aboot later on an'awe .
Aye, the bogey, the "Glasgow Bogey".

a couple of auld wheelbarra' wheels made it look like a 1970s bogey off roader.
then it was a case of throwing yourself (or getting yur wee brother 1st, to test it oot) down sandbank st at a hunner miles an oor with your good school duffel coat (which you sneaked oot the hoose before your ma seen you ) tied aroon yer neck like a cape. and flew by the orange halls like superman giving them the 2 fingered salute.
cos superman would do that.

Haha you brought back some fond memories. My cousin and his pals built a bogey when I was wee, loved having a shot of it.
