Did they not beat brazil and france before the World cup in friendlies 2 years ago? Before getting humiliated in the tournament?

I think ill hold off on the wankathon, and actually see them play teams when it matters.

Tbh its this kinda * i love...bigging themselves up like * then folding in front of the planet.

i suppose they got them winning it already...as usual

Holy * at the bitterness in this thread.

The English, whether you like it or not, were very impressive against the world champions yesterday. From being 2-0 down to winning it away from home is admirable tbh.

    Rooney should stay at home.

I hate the english team same as oldco...doesnt make my point any less valid.

Yes they did well to come back against an average german squad,* even scotland played against them well.

My points are, they beat brazil and france in friendlies and got pumped when it matters, and most likely will happen again this tournament.

Englands problem is their fans and media, they are the ones that * over their own team by putting far to much pressure on their heads, and results like last night (a much as it was a great comeback) will now be expected to beat every team in it now.

Englands golden generation in 1996 onwards was their best and only real good chance to win something...players like Beckham/scholes/lampard/terry/gerrard etc were terrific...but they * it all up by bad management and the media/fan hype.

The squad now has not a patch on that squad back then, england are still in a tier below Germany/Italy/Holland/Spain/France....and that just european.

Im not saying they didnt do well last night....to come back against the world champions(* or not) deserves the applauds they deserve.....however they are far far away from lifting any trophy when it really matters.

And yes scotland are *,we are always *,we will always be *....but i expect this now...im at peace knowing that now....but points arent any less valid becasue i cant stand the opposition

Jesus, all the wee but hurt fannies talking about being bitter - its a Scottish football teams' forum, whereby most people are Scottish - hardly going to be frothing at the mouth with excitement over another national team are we?

Go on any English forum and the its the same against us.

Nobody is being bitter, I think everyone has acknowledged how good some of the youngsters in the England set up are: Kane, Allie, Dier, Clyne, Sterling etc etc. However beating a nation comparable in size and football stature to yourself, is it that great? Scotland played very well against them and got nowhere near the plaudits, it's just double standards.

Germany were * poor last night, they looked like they didn't care at all. Schurrle especially annoyed me - was * poor I thought.

The acid test will come when it matters, I just don't think they have it. They've done this before and failed dramatically. As Bono said, their golden generation done hee haw, I don't think this group can either.

The fact Rooney is still going to be picked regardless according to Roy tells its own story. :smiley-laughing002:

Good point but I think it has always been that way, save for the 5-6 years Spain were untouchable. I think they will manage to be honest they have a good set up and great young players coming through.

Germany are world champions, they always do it when it matters.

Italy - pretty pish if im honest.

France though - theirs to throw away, home nation and a sublime squad.

    Lloris
    Mandanda

    Evra
    Varana
    Sakho
    Digne
    Mathieu
    Koscielny

    Cabaya
    Payet
    Diarra
    Kante
    Matuidi
    Pogba

    Griezmann
    Martial
    Gignac
Benzema (dunno what's happening with him though)

    Scintillating.

It is but like many other teams, their defence looks ropey.

Varane and to a degree Koscielny are solid centre halves. But their full backs look like a weak link.

Their defence doesn't look ropey at all, quality players right across the back.

Cost hundreds of millions and playing for Madrid, Barca, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Juve. Arguably the most pedigree of any Nation in the competition on paper actually.

Well in that list there isn't a right back. Their best left back is Evra who is past his best. Their centre halves are good but not great. Coming up against an attack of Reus, Ozil, Muller and Gotze - I wouldn't expect them to keep a clean sheet.

That said, they are very exciting going forward.

They have Sagna and Jalet (think that's his name).

I was trying to write the list from my head, so there will be a few people missed out.

Still, poor choice. Either * right-back or a hodge podge defence.

Just watching the Sunday Supplement and I can understand the optimism after last night, although it is just a friendly and I hope it totally bums them up to fall at the first hurdle..

What I can't fathom is how we have to be brought in to a discussion about Johan Cruyff and some * saying he liked the Dutch as Scotland didn't get past the group's much, actually they never did.Pretty much word for word and couldn't help the smug dig..

Martin Lipton from the Sun. Why am I not surprised it's a * from that outlet..

Definite element of the German's coasting it..

Guy's like Gomez, Can (certainly not at right mid), the boy next to Hummels etc will not be starting in France and you really can't read too much in to it..

It was very good from England but it really shoulda been 3 and out of sight. 1 team looked like they were really trying to make a statement and it worked..

Hope they get blitzed as it'll be unbearable if they even go far in this tournament..

I am bitter at the fact they are much better than us and so they should be. I am bitter they qualify for every tournament but that is levelled out easily at how they go out :56:

I'm not bitter about much else. I hate them and I hate the media and hype and the fact everything has to revolve around the English game..

I support Scotland and all of the above is allowed, so * the * :icon_mrgreen:

    Forster
    Clyne Smalling Cahill Rose
    Ali Dier Barkley
    Vardy Kane Sterling

Stones will be in that team when his form comes back. That's a good young side with potential to cause an upset

Cannot stand them but if they pick form players over which club they are from then it could be their best chance in years.

Dele Ali is very impressive bar a howling miss. Barkley changed the game along with Vardy.

Cahill is * and their defence I'm general is suspect.
