    well, stop it then

We cannot even consider selling a striker who - if we were without him - would represent the gap between winning this league or losing it.

Take Griffiths out, we'd be lucky to have even finished second this season. He has held us up on his shoulders and we would be absolutely * without him this season.

To sell him to get in 'money to buy a champions league quality striker'? Why not get a new manager, and allow that manager to try to turn Griff into that?

Surely it is about getting another Champions League quality striker in to compliment Griff? For example not this Kazim-Richards hair-extensions chancer (what exactly is the POINT of him being here, anyway?) or * any striker we have had lately... apart from Griff.

No, I don't think they would. But I wouldn't sell him for any less than that.

    Aye awrite, Dad. :smiley-laughing002:

With Griffiths' performances this season there will be enquiries about his services. Just wondering what it would take for us to let him go.

Maybe a team like Burnley if they were to get promoted, however he would be * hard to replace and I wouldn't risk it.

    Efe
    Izzy
    Brown
    Johansen
    Forrest
    Stokes
    Cole
    Ciftci
    Scepovic

Jury out on... Richards, Armstrong, Boyata, Jozo, GMS, Bitton, Alllan and Roberts..

It might sound a bit brutal but that's the level of clear our we need.

I would get rid of Bailey, Efe, Izzy, Johansen, Richards, Cole, Cifti, Scepovic, Forrest, Commons and Stokes (although i think his contract is up anyway)Blackett loan return. Lustig, Biton and Brown if a good offers came in aswell tbh.

We have far too many players taking up finances who either offer little, just not what we need anymore or don't look interested. That money could be used for a quality player or 2 surely

I will give Boyata a chance under new management to see if he can sort himself out and improve like Kelvin Wilson did other wise get rid.
I haven't seen enough of Jozo yet. So look forward to seeing if he can strike up a strong partnership with Erik.
I want to see Armstrong played in his actual position and given a run an it.
Need to let Allan and Christie actually get some game time, to see what they can offer aswell.I would probably be more open to letting Christie leave on loan and give Allan game time.

Honestly I think those are unrealistic figures for our players after this season. I'd say half of each of those valuations.

Keep Gordon too, he's still one of our best players. Apart from that I agree, I'd probs keep Commons too cause he's a goalscorer and Allan cause he's got ability and can play the killer pass :50:

    Some * just say we'd get 1.5 mill for Colin Kazim-Richards? :56:

Should only look to keep players we intend on building round, as well as the odd oldie that we can keep for experience, and disband the rest.

If we aren't going into next season with Griffiths, Rogic, Sviatchenko and Tierney we can call it a day.

Mick Duffy could b worth a punt as well.

The problem with Celtic down the years is we carry to many journey men in our squad. Too many players on good contracts, with little interest in them down South, where the money is, so they are happy making money settling around for seasons taking up a jersey and a wage.

    We could manage this better.

The problem is very few deserve a contract extension at the minute. I don't know who is going into their last year of their contracts. I believe johansen is so new manager must decide to get something for him or lose him for nothing. Alternative is only another contract and would it be worth it? But do we get the johansen of last season or this season?

Players out of contract this year like mulgrew I would send them all on.

Smaller squad but of more commitment and more quality over quantity. Let the youngsters back up a squad of 22.

We only need to sign say four players. But quality players. We need to back the new manager with funds to get these players. Do this and let the fans feel the wind of change.
Don't do this and the only thing needed changing is the board.

Outwith Sviatchenko, Tierney, Rogic & Griffiths, I wouldn't be over fussed to see any other player shipped out in the summer.

agree with most of the sentiments on this thread but think it would be disrespectful to Griffiths to bench him - his goal tally is as incredible as it was unexpected. As far as the "not a big game player" goes, aye agreed he's no Ronaldo but also the team hasn't turned up on those tough nights either so I wouldn't expect him to save the day!

It's great everyone is discussing this but I think we sometimes over simplify the figures and the process of buying selling...how easy it is to get players in and out, how much the next manager should get to spend and discussion turns a bit like a Football Manager game. Reality is it will be much more difficult to offload players close season, and especially the volumes of players (always think its like a house sale, lot of things to manage and consider before absolute completion). Money often has to be spent to get players out (logistically and contract wise) before even considering players in. I think people will have to accept magic wont happen over the summer but will take at least a year before we see a cleaner, neater squad (assuming that is what the new coach wants). I don't expect too many additions/removals (bar contract expiries) at the club in the summer and that actually might come as a shock to people based on how people are thinking here.

While i do think we need to get rid of some players - youth players should be backup players in some areas - i don't think we need to get rid of a whole squad's worth.

Yes get rid of Cole, CKR, Ciftci, Scepovic - there is no need to have this many strikers on our books even if we do play 2 up top. Plus they will be on good money - money that can be spent elsehwere.
Guys like Allan, Armstrong, GMS etc i think the new manager will want a look before making a decision. Who knows the new management team may make a player out of them yet.

Let the new management make an assessment and if the stories are true about half the squad not trying for Deila - once he is gone they should miraculously be better players!

    Goalkeepers:

Craig Gordon - Keep because he is absolutely fine as a number 1 for us.
Logan Bailly - Keep because he is a decent back up keeper.
Leo Fasan - Unsure because I would only keep him if there is a lot of potential there but we haven't really seen it on the field.

    Defenders:

Tyler Blackett - Return because he is *.
Emilio Izaguirre - I would sell Izzy if we can get another back left back in because Tierney is the first choice left back and rightly so. Izzy has been a great servant.
    Efe Ambrose - * *. Sell.
Jose Simunovic - Keep and hopefully he stays injury free next season.
Dedrick Boyata - Keep because I think he is a decent enough back up centre half and may improve because he hasn't had a lot of football over his career.
Charlie Mulgrew - Not my cup of tea at all because he is as slow as a week in the jail and he thinks he is Beckbeuer so I would sell him.
Saidy Janko - If he is unhappy here then let him go. Thought he had shown earlier in the season that he could be a good player.
Mika Lustig - Looks past his best and injury may have caught up on him. However I will give him the benefit of the doubt to regain sharpness and fitness during the pre-season.
Eric Sviatchenko - Keep and make him captain. Behaves like one on and off the field.
Kieren Tierney - Keep. Best player at the club the now in terms of what he brings to his position. (Griffiths more valuable)

    Midfielders:
Nir Bitton - A complete shadow of the player he was last season but when the new manager comes in there is nothing stopping him from getting back to that level so keep.
Scott Brown - Never been a fan of Scott Brown and I think his legs are gone as well. I would get rid of him but there is no chance of that happening.
Stuart Armstrong - Tough one with him because we haven't seen the best of him because he has been played out of position. Whether the new manager can get that out of him is another matter. Keep.
Kris Commons - If he is happy to be back up, I would keep him but if he isn't then punt him.
Gary Mackay-Steven - Don't think he is good enough for us on a consistent basis.
Ryan Christie - Potentially a great player. Keep.
Tom Rogic - I think if Rogic stays injury free and gets an intense pre-season under his belt he will be great for us next year. The '10' we currently have.
Scott Allan - No idea why we bought him. Punt.
Stefan Johansen - Same as Bitton there is nothing stopping him getting back to his best but I think he can sense the impatience from the Celtic fans which makes me think he may be away in the summer.
    Paddy Roberts - Keep obviously.
Callum McGregor - I think McGregor is probably the best squad/substitute player we have, as in he can play anywhere in midfield and is a decent impact from the bench. I wouldn't have him in my starting 11 (well over Brown but that'll never happen) but I would definitely keep him.
James Forrest - Never reached his potential would sell him.
Kristoffer Ajer - Keep obviously because we will only have him.

    Forwards:
Leigh Griffiths - Instrumental to us because of his goals and is an obviously keep.
Colin Kazim-Richards - No idea why we bought him. Sell.
Carlton Cole - No idea why we bought him. Sell.

Players out on loan: Would punt them all except from Henderson and Nesbitt.

Yeah this, and also how difficult it is to bring in quality strikers.
