no need to sell him, unless he wants to leave which i dont think is the case.
he gives us another option with his skill when teams play 10 man defence.
    i just love the guy!
just finished John Cairneys new book (the sevenpenny gate) and he refers
to Paddy as the" londonderry pele"
somebody needs to have a word.:celt_2:

i don't know what i could have misconstrued. he doesn't have the ability to become a world class player - that's the point.

overrated by a fraction of our support.

this is his highlight of his career, a bench player for Celtic FC. it's not a negative spin...

that's the last i'll say on the matter.

How's he overrated? There are just as many people on here who don't like him that do.

He's rated because he's got a superb talent that's so rare.

What? Running and dribbling are basically the same thing, I said them separately to be nice to the boy!

Exactly what i'm saying, we just don't need him most of the time. We have better crossers, finishers, passers, tacklers - Forrest and Izzy are faster as well (and probably some more.)

No1 is hating on Paddy, certainly not me, he's a Celtic player and so gets all my support when he's on the pitch, but if you're asking me the truth then that is that Paddy McCourt is excellent at dribbling with the ball - and that's it.

Of course he has the ability to make the step up, a blind eyeless torso with no eyes could see that.

It not his ability that is preventing him from furthering his career surely you must recognise that?

He is a talented player nae doubt but slows the pace of the game down too much especially at home. Impact sub at most and if hes not happy with that then i would let him leave

Look mate you obviously love him and that's fine, his tricks are really great to watch, but he's not world class nor does he have the ability or potential to be, come on now.

The man's 28 years old, if he was ever going to make it at the top level, he would have done so a long, long time ago, and a club even bigger than Celtic.

Always liked Paddy, but he's no getting in the team ahead of Wanyama, Kayal, Forrest, Ledley, Samaras, Brown... Keep him as a luxury player if he's happy too, but wonder if he did move to the Championship he'd get a regular start there... Defensive qualities lacking he isn't a complete player.

I like Paddy and would like him to stay but that could be sentiment! Unfortunately he's inconsistent and, IMO, will only ever be an impact sub. But even that doesn't work at times...

Paddy never has been more than a squad player, albeit a very talented one; we simply have better, younger and importantly fitter options than paddy at the moment. I hope he stays as i'd love to see him in a winning celtic side but I doubt he'll want to keep warming the bench.

    I don't love him ffs! :56:

Why is that levelled at everyone who backs the guy up?

I think he is an extremely talented footballer who could have become a world class star.

I knew many lads growing up who could have become world class and they never even got a game for the juniors never mind Celtic!!!!

I'll say it one more time....

The lad could be world class if he applied himself, he hasn't for whatever reason, but to say he wouldn't have made it through a lack of ability is ludicrous and frankly * hilarious.

I think the term, 'World Class' is being used a bit generously here which is what's causing the arguments.

"I knew many lads growing up who could have become world class"- There's no scientific way to prove this statement incorrect but I'm pretty confident it's not true. What you're suggesting here is that you knew more than one person who was as good as Zidane, Messi, Ronaldo, Beckenbauer etc. And none of them even became * football players.

World class means they could be a star at the biggest, most successful clubs on the planet. I would have thought that it was pretty obvious that Paddy would not fall into that category and nor would the many lads you knew growing up. I like McCourt and it's clear he has skill. However, he's doing that at a poor level of football, against tired players near the end of a game. This does not make him a world class player and nor is it evidence of a world class player.

I canny even be bothered with any of that.

I know what I meant and I stand by it. Paddy has all the tools to be a world class star, his ability is not what is holding him back.

Matthews was coming back from injury so thats why Cha came on, to give Matthews some well-deserved rest.

Paddy is *. I won't be sad to see him leave. He IS deadwood at Celtic. Not good enough and don't think he will ever be.
I rather we give Dylan McGeough a chance rather than waste it on Paddy. Don't understand why every loves him, I think he is average.

Dylan doesn't play the same position as Paddy, they aren't in competition, Paddy and Sammy are atm.

And he's not *, comments like that are just looking for a reaction.

Paddy is a quality footballer but I just can`t see him breaking into this team. We should definitely keep him for this season as he is a brilliant player to come on and change a game if things aren`t going well. I think for his own good he should move to another club. Any club would be priveliged to have someone of McCourts talent and there is no point in him staying here if that talent is being wasted
