I have never been over lay impressed with him when he plays 90 mins. I have never questioned the talent he has as an impact player but if he wants to play full matches then he needs to go somewhere else because we have player who perform to a higher standard for 90 mins than him. like a said in a previous post if he is happy to be an impact player then let him stay but if not we are better to sell for him and the club

completely disagree he gained cult status for scoring some amazing goals as an impact player there is an element to the irish thing but how many irish players have we had who have never gained cult status or any status amongst our support

some people did rate McGinn and others still wanted him to have a chance even though it was obvious that he was never going to make it.

McCourt is all skill. nothing else. it's like a magpie with shiny things. you see the skill and you think, Bhoy, what a player. you're overlooking his major flaws. he isn't getting a game for a reason.

some on here will try to argue the contrary by painting me as anti-McCourt, like DannyBhoy tries to. i'm not anti-McCourt but he won't get a game ahead of better options we have at our disposal. for that crucial reason, if an offer of £1m+ came along, we'd be stupid to turn it down.

talking out my hole? rich coming from the guy who thinks McCourt could of become world class.

I think he suffers a lot in supporters eyes in a 90 minute match because people expect him to turn it on every second and ghost past 4 people and stick it in the pokey.

He has much more to his game than wonder goals, some of his through passes are fantastic.

If people could see past the flamboyant part of his game then they would see a gem. Sadly it probably wont happen for him here.

no doubt he has been a great servant off the bench. i'm not arguing that. it's those who completely overrate him. there must be a reason. could it be because he is Northern Irish? i think it's a possibility. fair enough if you think i'm wrong. just my two cents.

Tell me what is missing from his game that wouldn't make him world class if he applied himself?

    Passing? No

    Skill? No

    Eye for goal? No

So what is it? Or do you not agree he has those ingredients that I mentioned?

a see where you are coming from but its one thing a don't expect is paddy to turn the style on all the time. I personally don't think his passing is up to much I remember him playing 1 cracking ball in a pre season friendly in america but that is the only memorable recollection I have of him in a 90 mins match compared to say commons or forrest who can show there qualities through out a match which paddy doesn't do. he will only ever been an impact player at celtic and if he is happy with that then so am i but if he wants to be playing regularly as a starting 11 player it won't be at celtic unless he improves his game vastly

I disagree with you then mate because every time he plays I see him make at least one defence splitting perfectly weighted pass. And that's just in a 20 min cameo.

The guy has something which prevents him becoming a top drawer player, ability is not it.

if you think McCourt had ever had it in him to become world class player you know nothing of football.

he is good on all of those fronts. has he been great? yes...against pish teams.

could he do it against Man Utd? Barca? Real Madrid? Brazil? Spain? AC Milan? Holland? Argentina? Bayern Munich? could he do it at a consistent level?

if you've answered 'yes' to all those questions, you're off your rocker but please continue to the last question...

why has no one bigger than Celtic ever shown an interest in him if he could of become a world beater?

Because he has something missing from his game, I've been saying that the whole thread!

But to say he doesn't have the qualities to go all the way to the top is ludicrous, the man is a genius with the ball at his feet.

if you read the full post i said i have only once in a full 90 mins match seen him play a defense splitting pass. making 20 min cameos when defenders are tired and he is fresh make it easier for him to play those passes

Not to worry, he'll get a run soon enough due to injury or loss of form and score a few goals, play out his skin and most will be screaming for him to get a 45 year contract...

    Such is t'internet.

you're seriously doing self harm on your own argument by saying he could of become world class.

the man may be a genius with the ball at his feet in the SPL but against a higher quality opposition he'd look like a fool.

it's not ludicrous. you're overrating him to say he has, had or ever will possess the power to become a world class player. he will never, ever reach those heights.

You just read my post and take what you want from it to further your arguement don't you?

Did I not say he has something missing from his game to make the step up, but that ability was not it?

And you are the one looking like a fool saying he couldn't do it against higher opposition seeing as you have nothing at all to base your argument on.
