    Not a * chance :56::56::56::56::56:

    Guinness (or Diageo I should say) are struggling to make a profit on the drink as it is - never mind paying out £6m a year to sponsor Celtic

    Guinness is probably a more well known brand than Celtic, so I doubt they would see that much benefit in sponsoring us, actually I am just thinking that the champions league exposure may have something to do with it

    at a question and answer show many years ago and then director wullie haughey said there was no chance celtic would be sponsered by guinness due to celtics history and origin and the history and origin of the wealthy guinness family

    Probably because Celtic were set-up with a charitable ethos, and the Guinness family were/are exceedingly wealthy.

    Quite ironic that Haughey himself has made a pretty penny over the years..............

    How much do we make from Tennents a year? If it's relatively little (£1/2m say - I know that's quite a lot, but still...) why don't we stick a charity on our shirts? I don't particularly like sponsors blazoned all over the tops but if it's for a good cause I'd be a lot happier about it. Don't particularly like having alcohol sponsors on our tops either.

    So basically we will continue to be associated with Sevco through sponsorship for the foreseeable future?

    Im not 100% sure but Im pretty sure he said that it didnt make financial sense too break from them in terms of sponsorship. Im sure someone here will back me up.

    Was this not the same man who more or less said before the start of the season that we would be looking to venture into seperate sponsorship?

    As far as I understand the Guinness brand is owned by Diageo, so if there is a requirement/need to sponsor both Celtic and sevco (and if there is any truth in the rumour), I would imagine the zombies would be sporting another Diageo brand in division 3 for considerably less money.

    I'm sure that they look into all the time, and it always returns that breaking from an all Glasgow sponsorship isn't worth it monetarily.
