why did the Ajax fans call him 'man of glass'?

He certainly seems to be living up to his nickname over here too

I can understand the frustration of our fans over Derk, he seems to be always out just when we need him most, and he came with the reputation of Mr Sick Note. Why do we always seems to sign guys who have a dodgy injury record ? This guy is beginning to make Maloney and Rogne look like Iron Man :54:

The stats don't lie. The Ajax fans were probably too busy stealing * scarves to know what was happening on the pitch. :smiley-laughing002:

He played 30 games a season teams like Ajax play over 60 games per season so he's missed half of most seasons .. That's *

That's last season I'm talking about every season he was at Ajax.

If you know so much tell me for the last 4 years many games he's played for his team and how many games his team actually had ..

After tomorrow's game against Ajax, Celtic will have played a total of 17 matches since Boerrigter arrived at Celtic.

Boerrigter has only made 7 apps and started just 5 times for Celtic.

Hasn't he already been out on 3 separate occasions? Seems injury prone to me.

Poor return of games played that's for sure.

Those stats aren't hard to find, Jungo. Have a look yourself.

The bottom line is, he's played over thirty games a season for the last five out of six seasons, so he's not injury prone as far as I can tell.

Apart from that, it's only October. If he's still sitting in the treatment room after a season then maybe we can judge him to be injury-prone.

He played 43 of 47 games last season & that was with the Champions League, a run in the Europa League, a run to the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Schaal, on top of the league. They won't average much more than that in a season.

Suprised at that tbh always thought ajax would play atleast 60 games a season. With the league and Europe and domestic cups etc

What happened to the other 4 games eh? Made of glass...

The facts here is he picked up an injury on his first game for us, after an interrupted pre-season. We rushed him back early and we've paid the price for it, that's what happens.

He has had one serious injury in his career and that's it. It's October, only 17 games into the season. If we're still sitting in the same situation come May then we re-assess the situation.

Actually he was carrying an ankle knock when he signed, IMO he should never have been rushed back into playing.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23539551

'However, he will have recovered from an ankle knock to make his debut against Ross County when Celtic begin the defence of their title on Saturday.

"About a week ago, I got a kick on my ankle, but I have almost fully recovered and I trained on the pitch today with the squad and it went well," he explained.'

The guy had a sore one when he arrived and it's still not right now...(assuming its the same ankle of course!).

I understand why some have concerns about his fitness, fans want to see new signings on the park not in the treatment room.

Hopefully he will stay fit and fulfill his promise.

Hopefully. Think he's the kind of player who would be exciting to watch. It's a shame it hasn't worked out for him so far.

    Plenty of time though.

Really didn't realise it had been as long as over 1 month since he last played. Hope he starts to make an impact.

Would be great to see him rip apart Ajax in the Dam.

Should find out tomorrow where he is along with everyone else.

It would be a beautiful thing if he were fit for Ajax, nothing better than a guy going back to his former side with something to prove.
