    Despite his injury problems, I'm pretty surrpised I am managing to pick this guy up at this stage...


    Ledley King.

    He was a fantastic defender and one of the most underrated ever. Yes he had his injuries but so does Kompany, I think he has gotten to the same kind of stage now. At his height he was quick, strong, commanding and good on the ball. Perfect next to Tony Adams in my team.

Balanced, athletic, and skilful, he could pass better than plenty of midfielders and read the game to perfection. Fans may love the blood and guts heroics of those who throw their body on the line, but King preferred to stay on his feet and play. Because Ledley King was a proper footballer."

    If he had avoided such lengthy injuries I reckon he would have outshone Ferdinand and Terry.
