The thing is that now he is not running head down (he was actually criticised for that, but now he improved. Actually we had absolutely the same problem with Bystrov, but coaches did a great work and here with McGeady I think they were pointing on that.
But give a credit to McGeady, it's not easy to adapt in totally diffirerent country with a different style of football and especially playing in the team which is like bone in a throat to the russian football authorities etc. You should have watched judging, as well as McGeady gets a lot of fouls that are not whistled. Not world class player would be sitting on a bench because there are other good players on his position but he fought his way.

I'd like to have seen McGeady play in this Celtic team, a team where he wouldn't have the burden of carrying the whole team like he did under TM imo. Imagine McGeady on the left and Forrest on the right? It would be breath-taking.

McGeady got too much * for showing off.........no players were in the box when he was up there after skinning a team, so what were his options really?

Brilliant player who for me was extremely undervalued by some of the support.

Looking forward to seeing him in action tomorrow night. He's in my Euro fantasy team, so he better do something decent :56:

In reality, it would be absolutely horrific.

Two wingers with two overlapping full backs? Precisely the kind of Football Manager tactics which cost Tony Mowbray his job.

This doesn’t even make sense. What are you saying? That McGeady had no other options but to start messing around with the ball because there weren’t enough bodies in the box?

Tony Mowbrays season - yes. Fortune and Samaras were never in the box.

Even if that were the case, I fail to see how that would justify squandering possession by messing around with the ball. That would be the mark of a very limited player.

No support, nobody in the box to pass to, he'd keep possesion as long as it took for our players to man up enough to look to recieve the ball.

Top assister that season and the one before, and the one before...

How you can call him 'limited' is beyond me. Put him in this team or the Seville team people would realise just how good he was for us.

Setting up 16 goals when your target is Fortune and Samaras is * impressive. Soon as Robbie Keane came in that figure went up by 10.

The suggestion that McGeady was somehow left isolated with the ball in wide positions while there were no other options available is preposterous. I remember one of the main gripes that season being McGeady’s refusal to release the ball early, or indeed at all – mainly down to his lack of vision and lack of awareness. I do not rate wingers who feel their only job is to aimlessly fling crosses into the box.

This is not true. Nakamura had our most assists in 2006/2007 and in 2008/2009.

Only in 2 seasons out of 6 did McGeady have most assists at Celtic.

I wouldn’t put him in the Seville team because he wouldn’t have a hope in * of dislodging Alan Thompson from left midfield.

I’ll give you that. However, again, I’m not sure where you’re getting these figures from. McGeady only had 14 SPL assists that season. I doubt he ended up with 26 overall.
