"Can see him doing at least 1 full season there then prem bound"

I agree with you one or two seasons with us and he is off to PL. I think that it will directly depend on what place Spartak will take in next season.

Landon Donovon does that with Everton and before Bayern Munich. I don't think it's such a far-fetched idea. He's had such a tiny season, only a few months. He probably wouldn't come to us though, maybe a prem club.

By the way, I wouldn't be underwhelmed if it was Messi who had put in some of those performances on those video-links.

According to the Mirror, he's off to Villa in January.

    Apparently hasn't settled in Moscow.

Although if that's true, I've no idea how he thinks he'll get on in * Birmingham, where he'll face the added difficulty of the language barrier.

Interesting to see he has been a success in Russia, where many have failed before him.

remember, some users on this board always called him overrated, useless or a sand dancer. Hope they are eating their words now...

I'm pleased for him and have to admit to being surprised how quickly he has adapted out there.

    Good on you son. :50:

would like to think we have a sell on clause that can earn us a few more quid if he does go.

Well done to young McGeady. In the games I saw him play he looked good and you have to give him all the credit in the world for adapting to such a different culture and location so quickly. I am sure it is still hard for him in ways but he has done very well. Not to mention the pressure of having to live up to a big transfer fee on top of everything else.
As someone else mentioned hopefully we have a sell on clause because if he can build on this next season and have a big year then we could see him moving for a really big fee you would think.

He had a great end to the season, man of the match in their last 2 games, assisting 3 goals against Zenit and Lokomotiv Moscow. Wonder if we'll see Zenit trying to sign him this summer?

He was named in the 2nd choice team of the year.

    Malafeev
    Anyukov Ignashevich Lombaerts Criscito
    Samedov Shirokov Denisov Zhirkov
    Kerzhakov Doumbia

    Akinfeev
    Berezutsky Hubocan Berezutsky Ansaldi
    McGeady Glushakov Dzagoev Danny
    Eto'o Traore

His performances for Ireland over the last year and a half have been vastly improved as well. He is our most potent attacking weapon now even more so given how negatively Trappatoni usually has us set up.

We'll be able to see him in the Champions League next season too as they finished second and the only other Russian team he would probably go to is Zenit who won the League and are there too. Unless he signs for an English or Spanish or something team who havent qualified.

I can say that he will not be in zENIT 99%. The only player who moved to zENIT was Bystrov and the transfer was made under administrative pressure(call from the head of Gazprom), plus there was a point that allowed player to choose if 15mln USD were offered.

As far as I know McGeady has point in the contract that he will be able to choose by his own from Russian teams if 50mln. of euro are offered, but this not the first point.

zENIT is hated in Russia for it's administrative resource (Medvedev, Head of Gazprom, head of ministry of sport and head of Russion futball union are all fans of zENIT, the last two were directors of zENIT), otherwise it is useless club... Last play with zENIT was very representative, they envy Spartak Moscow and hate it, so they delayed celebration of their "championship", they made golden numbers on their shirts, they made all preparation for "championship" to the match with Spartak, everybody I mentioned before, except Medvedev who had election issues, were on that match. Ref was also making everything to the celebration, making penalty (there was nothing about penalty) when Spartak equalized, that a#$ho#e even sent off Emenike who scored second equalizer 7 secs after he scored a goal but even that didn't help, since 10 man Spartak scored 3 goal.

zENIT is nothing without administrative resources, as it was nothing previously with only one championship in it's history before Gazprom and very little Eurocup history. There many details about zENIT that people don't know, like it's the only racist club in Russia Premier League.

McGeady know most of the things about that "club"... Moreover as far as I know from insiders, he is not willing to go anywhere at least next season.

Currently Spartak has Valencias coash plus approximately 40-50 mln. euros for new players and new stadium building that will completed in year or so worth of 250 mln. euros. And it's probably fate that Spartak was always against system, previously against Dinamo (police), CSKA (army), Dynamo Kiev (all the Ukranian teams except one gave points for that favor of this team), pressury on Spartak player during Soviet Union in case of they will not move to CSKA or Dinamo they were forced to go the army etc...Now this crap with 70% government being from St.Peterburg pushing zENIT in every sphere they can...

Lol, sorry to highlight this as I know every Tim felt the same back in the day but, wow!

    How times have changed.

And I read an interview earlier where Aiden said he will stay at Spartak until 2014 and then move, hopefully to England.
Sometimes when he played at Parkhead he looked * genius, I hope his good form continues to improve and he has a good EUROs, then we may well see another big money transfer for him and we'll get some of the £££ :icon_mrgreen:
