He certainly doesn't get it by playing in our first team, put it that way.

Those suggesting we don't play Keane are living in cloud cuckoo land, seriously. He is the best player on Celtic's books at the minute by a country mile. Just because we know he won't be here next season doesn't mean you just bin him and play an inferior player.

Should United have benched Ronaldo in the 6 months prior to him leaving? Should Milan have binned Kaka? Should Liverpool have dropped Alonso? We have the benefit of hindsight in knowing what the inevitable is but that changes very little. The best teams play their best players, no matter how they interpret the short term future to pan out.

harsh, but true. would agree with the fans the place has lacked a buzz for too long. the coaching has already been dealt with. the board really need to have a look at themselfs to lose to that shower in the state they are in is disgraceful!

i'd start by getting reid out things have gone * up since he came on board maybe karma has something to do with that.

lawell a think is doing no to bad a job overall his time at the club but some of the blame for the last 2 seasons must also lie at his door.

the manager? we need an appointment by the end of the season to give the new managment team all summer to work on the squad

Not sure I agree. There is absolutely nothing to play for this season now. So why play players (OF game for pride aside) who wont be here. Its totally illogical. Its not all about Keane anyway. In fact he may be the exception because IMO we only have 2 players who the word 'striker' is an accurate description of-Keane and Rassmussen so Keane can stay in the side despite being a loan. No more Braffheid, NGuemo and Kamara. There is just not enough time left for them to win a move IMO.

I am sick of weirdo players like Fortune, Kamara and Sammy. We should move them all on ASAP and get in guys who play one position very well instead of these hybrid striker-wingers who cant do either role well.

At the end of the day it's a sorry state of affairs.

I've never known for a club like ours, who are meant to be a big club - playing so many loanees.

It's not as if they're actually any good - or any better than what we already had. Aye Keane is a decent player, but he's only here to satisfy his own ego & an on form & motivated Skippy was capable of matching his scoring record.

We brought in over 7 million quids from punting players in January & brought in some * loanees. As I say it's madness & something is seriously wrong with our desicion making at boardroom level.

I know its far too early to be thinking about CL but I really hope we get a decent tie next season, getting Arsenal this year was just complete bad luck, I remember watching that draw thinking "anyone but Arsenal please" and it came out! I cant see Lennon putting anything but a full strength team out till the end of the season, if he wins every game from now he might just get the job, I wont be gutted if he does or doesnt, I like Lenny and excluding the Ross County team I have noticed a imporovment in our style of playe and players putting a shift in, Lenny will have Samaras sussed out and cant see Lenny keeping a player that doesn't give 110% when playing for the hoops. Will be very interesting to see how ambitions the board are in terms of transfers,.
The way I see if, we have had the season from * and we are still getting bigger crowds than most prem teams are getting, our fans are still singing, it will only get better and I will be cheering my team on every step of the way. Bring on next season! :50:

Im pretty sure that with a loss in the qualifying round we would parachute into the group stage of the Europa league

never mind, a loss in our first tie would drop us into the Europa league playoffs where we would have a two legged tie to decide if we reach the group stage

Keane is a superior player to McDonald in every aspect of the game

Lennon will play the best 11 at his disposal to win all the league matches he can. He shouldnt be criticised for trying to win matches!

Lennon seen enough of McGinn & McCourt in training and the reserves last year to know what they are like as players. Both arent good enough and once again its a case of absence making the heart grow fonder.

Ki isnt good enough imo, never will be. He looked good in the K League because of the standard of football and unlike Strachan, I dont think Lennon or the next manager is going to setup the team to protect/carry him.

A good clean out during the summer is required, either enter a B team into the lower division or get rid of the reserve setup, its currently a waste of resources as it is.

It is the Mogga/Lawell legacy. They set the club back a year to two IMO by punting a chunk of our spine and bringing in loans who are not good enough (other than Keane). The perm signings Mogga made were no much better.

We're way off topic guys. From here on in we have to do what we always have to do, win games, meaningless or not

What now? Pray. Pray that we find a new core of players this summer and rebuild this team. Pray that by some miracle we get back into the CL proper.

    From another site:
Champions League 2010/11 Celtic in on the third qualifying round | ArmchairCelts

With Scotland sitting 13th in the Access List for the 2010/11 UEFA Club Competitions
Rangers are guaranteed a place in the Champions League group stage for 2010/11, as long as the winners of this year's competition qualify via their domestic league. In that scenario Rangers will take the place reserved for the *title holder.
Celtic enter at the third qualifying round and will face a third-placed team from Russia or a runner-up from Ukraine, Holland, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Belgium and Switzerland on July 27/28 & August 3/4. The five winners of those ties could meet a fourth-placed side from England, Spain or Italy or a third-placed team from France or Germany in the play-offs on August 17/18 & 24/25 for a place in the group stage.
Should Celtic lose in either of the Champions League qualifying rounds they will drop into the Europa League group stage or final qualifying round.

I think it looks like the Europa League for us again, tbh I can't see either of the Glasgow teams making any impact in the C.L.

If Rangers qualify directly - it really shows how much of a * up we've had in the past 2 seasons. We need to get this * sorted pronto.

Looks like it's going to be that second qualifying round that's going to bring the pain. Just underlines that defence is the priority once more for the close season.

Sorry lads but the mediocrity of our board is making "Walter" and co legends! the papers are full of it.A friend of mine worked out that if our board had done what was required over the last 20 years then at least 6 to 8 titles would have been ours! We actually give these titles away!

Win every game from now to the end of the season and prepare for the CL qualifiers. We can qualify if we get a decent draw. We were fairly shafted this year with the draw. We won't get Arsenal every year............. unless the SFA get invloved. :icon_mrgreen:
