    doubt he was offered the 7 but 88 was the year he and this club were born. that's why he took it and i like it. anybody insinuating theres a similarity between this and the GG Buffon number fiasco is a hun and can GTF.

    I also agree that it's only a number on a shirt, yes we've been very fortunate to have two great players wearing this number in Jinky and Hendrik, but it's these players that made people aware of Celtic's number seven by playing superbly in the Hoops number seven.

    If Mc Geady is to go then giving himthe jersey is pointless, I personally prefer to give it to a player as a reward for turning many good performances over one season, but it's not the most imporatant issue at Celtic Park these days.

    he has still to be given a shot at actually playing.

    and by going with the players lennon has brought in so far it doesnt look like he will be playing to often this season

    infact i would be suprised if he was hear this time next season

    Are we really saying we don't let anyone wear the no.7 shirt unless they earn it? Is this our green jacket/yellow jersey equivalent? Does this mean that we should remove all shirt no.s worn by the squad last season? I didn't see that many earn their hoops last season!
    Fingers crossed we buy someone to do it justice..........

    Thought Juarez would have got it, given how he's spoken about our club he would certainly know what that number would require to wear and live up to it.

    It's just a number. Plenty of players have wore it who gets it doesn't bother me in the slightest, the player makes the number.
    Hooper could make 88 "special" if he scores a shed load
