Living in Egypt and being married to a Muslim, myself being an atheist, i feel have a decent take on things in the Muslim world. My wife and her family have never put any pressure on me to convert or change my viewpoints to match theirs. Yes I have been very fortunate to meet a set of liberal Muslims (contrary to the opinion of the rags they do exist) who have loved me for me.

I can assure you that bar the odd crackpot, the majority of Muslims I work with and party with are just as sick of terrorism as people in the west. You will get extremist everywhere but with the advent of social media, these extremists now have a platform to air their views. Islam is currently in its "inquisition" phase that Christianity went through in the early middle ages. Taking time to remember that Islam is a lot younger than most religions may help people to realise that it's evolution towards tolerance will still take time.

In a country where 80% of the population live below the poverty line or are illiterate then it's no wonder when that religion can be viewed fanatically, for some that is all they have.

After being here for 5 years, I have grown to accept the wAyrshire religion is engrained is all walks of life here. I don't like it but I understand it.

Like I said, I am no expert, however living in the Muslim world gives me a different perspective to the anti-Muslim brigade who spout a lot of ignorant nonsense at times. People here can be ignorant but a lack of education doesn't help. People in the west choose to be ignorant despite an education....I find this troubling.

Anyway, off to the beach with my wife to get some sun!!

Thanks for posting mate hopefully some of that permeates through some of the ignorance and prejudice you sometimes unfortunately see on here :50:

    Says that *.

Dont tell me you dont believe he uses gas and chemicals on his own people?

You think it is ok for a dictator to die, and his son gets the job in this day and age?

How can you possibly defend that *?

Angus is an Assad supporter simply because he's friendly with Putin. If you've read any of the stuff from HP&R you'll know the extent that Angus is prepared to go in order to defend Vlad and Russia.

Well he,s fighting Al-Qeada, and the vast majority of Syrians support him and live within govt held territory.

You go with your Orwell media narrative all you want, but dont ask me too :bbpd:

I'm no fan of the Royal family but comparing them to a dictator is a bit silly.
